Orange County Labor owes all of Santa Ana an apology

It looks like Santa Ana Council Member Michele Martinez won’t be advancing in the race to replace Jose Solorio in the 69th Assembly District.  So far the top two in that race are Tom Daly, a Democrat, and Jose Moreno, a Republican.  Martinez is in fourth and the candidate that Orange County labor backed, Julio Perez, is in third. If you are not in the top two, it is game over!

Had labor backed Martinez she might well have made the top two.  Instead Democrats are now stuck with Daly, who has a distinctly anti-Latino record as the former Mayor of /Anaheim.  Moreno also is from Anaheim, which means that Santa Ana no longer has a horse in this race, thanks to labor and Perez, not to mention that other foolish Democrat, Francisco Barragan, who hardly got any votes at all.

I will be backing Moreno in November.  We have several months to let Daly have it.  He has a terrible record of wasting taxpayer resources, as the Orange County Clerk-Recorder.  We will be bringing all of that out for sure. Continue reading→

It is simply amazing how much mail the Julio Perez campaign and his friends in labor are sending out – daily.  I am receiving at least two pieces per day.  It reminds me of the recall of former SAUSD Trustee Nativo Lopez.  My mail box drowned in pro Lopez mail, because at the time my wife was working at Disney, at a union job.

Now I am the one in a union – a teacher’s union.  So this time I am being targeted by the unions.  And they are destined to fail again, as they did in the Lopez recall. Continue reading→

69th A.D. candidate Tom Daly denigrates women voters with sexist oven pad

Career politician Tom Daly insulted women voters in the 69th Assembly District today with a sexist oven pad that he mailed in his wife Debbie’s name. 

Daly is obviously trying to pander to women voters but what a stupid way to do it.  Is he saying that women belong in the kitchen? A lot of women don’t cook anymore.  In my house I am the cook – and I do the grocery shopping too.

Isn’t it time to end the Downtown Santa Ana Pbid?

Santa Ana Council Member Sal Tinajero may put an item on an upcoming City Council meeting agenda to get rid of the Downtown Santa Ana Pbid, a property assessment that is collected and spent by a non-profit, Downtown Inc.  There has been a lot of anger on the part of small businesses made to pay these fees (either directly as property owners or passed on to them in their leases by their landords), but who feel that they don’t draw benefit from Downtown Inc’s marketing, which has apparently benefited the Downtown restaurants and bars more.

Need more proof of that?  Tara Jimenez, the owner of Drapes Vintage, was hired by Downtown, Inc. to run workshops to teach local Downtown businesses how they could make their stores more appealing to the downtown’s changing demographic,” according to the Voice of OC.  But she is now closing her business – and she has turned on Downtown Inc. too. Career politician Tom Daly mailed a ridiculous seven page homage to himself to voters in the 69th Assembly District yesterday.  The mailer is a celebration of everything Daly and even goes back to his days in Little League baseball. If you are to believe Daly, the people of Anaheim owe their lives to him!

Will this printed debauchery impress the voters?  How many voters will laugh at the expense Daly went to and toss the brochure right into the trash? Continue reading→

Special interests spend over $475K to help Daly and Perez in the 69th A.D.

Special interestes have now poured over $350,000 in Independent Expenditures into the race for the 69th Assembly District, on behalf of O.C. Clerk-Recorder Tom Daly.  Click here to see for yourself.

Special interests have also poured over $120,000 in Independent Expencitures into the race on behalf of liberal union hack Julio Perez.

Yet bloggers at the Liberal OC, the Voice of OC and the Orange Juice blog, as well as the OC Political Blog (not to be confused with the blog you’re reading) have humored themselves by attacking the leading Hispanic candidate for the heavily Latino 69th A.D., Michele Martinez, because of a $250 contribution that she received.  Amazing. Daly gets $78K from a corporate PAC but Martinez’ critics go mad over $250

A collection of ultra-liberal Democrats and anti-Latino Republicans is having a field day attacking Santa Ana Council Woman Michele Martinez, the leading Hispanic candidate for the 69th Assembly District, over a puny $250 donation while ignoring the fact that a PAC made up of some of the biggest, greediest corporations in the state has dumped over $78,000 into an Independent Expenditure on behalf of career politician Tom Daly, another Democrat who is facing off against Martinez.

It is simply ridiculous on its face.  And it isn’t just the blogs and their commenters – even the Voice of OC, which is supposed to be a reputable news source, has jumped into the fray – attacking Martinez while ignoring the thousands of dollars being poured into the race on behalf of Daly by the likes of AT&T (which recently charged lobbyists $50,000 so they could play golf with the corrupt California Assembly Speaker, John Perez; the California Real Estate PAC; Nestle (which has been accused of using child slave laborers to harvest cocoa beans in Africa); Continue reading→

The Voice of OC’s latest attack on Martinez goes beyond bad journalism

I paid for the Voice of the OCEA!

When the Voice of OC started reporting on Orange County politics we all hoped they were serious about their mission.  However they were funded by the Orange County Employees Association, a union, and now it is more obvious than ever that they are less about reporting objectively and more about doing what their union masters bid them to do. Case in point – their latest attack by Voice of OC reporter Adam Elmahrek on Santa Ana Council Member Michele Martinez, the leading Hispanic candidate for the 69th Assembly District.  Elmahrek reported that “The Santa Ana City Council is scheduled to vote May 7 on striking down one of the strictest campaign finance laws in Orange County, apparently to help Councilwoman Michele Martinez in her race for the state Assembly.”  How is that reporting?  The last part of that sentence is clearly his opinion, masquerading as journalism! Julio Perez supporter caught tearing down Michele Martinez’ signs

One of Santa Ana Council Member Michele Martinez’ supporters caught a Julio Perez supporter tearing down her campaign signs in Santa Ana today.  Martinez and Perez are both running for the 69th Assembly District.  The Perez supporter did not speak English, but when the Martinez supporter then queried him in Spanish, he ran off, as you can see in the video above.

The Martinez sign was on a private property which means that the Perez supporter was trespassing.  He left his fingerprints behind on the sign he had torn down and ripped up.  The sign has been turned over to the Santa Ana Police Department. Continue reading→

Martinez was on TV with Tran, but Arellano does TV with Republicans too

You have to love Gustavo Arellano’s hyperbole.  He reported this week that “I about spit out my Maker’s this evening when word came to me that SanTana councilwoman and 69th Assembly District hopeful Michele Martinez appeared on a Vietnamese-language channel here in Little Saigon, getting softball questions tossed at her by none other than former State Assembly member Van Thai Tran. Tran, the man who has long trashed Mexicans and tried to pit Vietnamese and Mexican voters against each other in a strategy only neo-Nazis and the Republican Party could love. Tran, the sworn enemy of Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez.”

Since when is Gustavo a Sanchez acolyte?  She is the biggest phony ever.  She was a Republican for most of her life before she switched to the Democratic Party, only after she got blown out in a race for the Anaheim City Council.  Sanchez not only switched parties, she also dropped her married name, which at the time was “Brixey,” and rediscovered her Latina surname, “Sanchez.” Continue reading→

New 69th A.D. poll shows Martinez, Daly and Moreno on top

A new poll of voters in the 69th Assembly District might be the reason that Orange County Labor and the OC GOP machine are trying to squeeze Republican candidate Jose Moreno out of the 69th A.D. primary.

According to the survey memo, “Democrats Tom Daly and Michele Martinez and Republican Moreno lead the pack.  Martinez leads all candidates among Latinos and leads Julio Perez, by 16 points. She also leads all candidates in Santa Ana – home to 60% of likely voters. Martinez is also likely to benefit disproportionately from the fact that Democratic women are among the most undecided subgroups in the district initially.  And when voters were read profiles of the three major Democrats and a shorter profile of Republican Moreno, Martinez moved into the lead.” Continue reading→
