The Santa Ana City Council Majority – which now includes Council Members David Benavides, Jose Solorio, Vince Sarmiento and Sal Tinajero, tried once again yesterday to illegally extend their term limits by trying to place a last-minute district election measure on the June ballot.

They were previously punked by Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido when he refused to sign off on their vote to place the measure on the June ballot. A judge recently forced Pulido to finally sign those papers but the June election ballot submission deadline had already expired.  Continue reading→

An early look at this November’s Santa Ana City Council candidates

It looks like the Santa Ana City Council majority will not be able to put a district election measure on the June ballot after all. A judge ruled today that Mayor Miguel Pulido should have signed their paperwork submitting the district election measure to the O.C. Voter Registrar. But it is too late for that measure to make it to the June ballot, according to the O.C. Register.

What this means is that Council Members Michele Martinez, David Benavides and Sal Tinajero are going to term out this November. They will have to be replaced in the November election.

The Santa Ana City Council majority’s lawsuit against Mayor Pulido will have a court hearing on April 6

The Santa Ana City Council majority is moving forward with their lawsuit against Mayor Miguel Pulido as he has steadfastly refused to sign off on their illegal vote to approve a rushed district election ballot measure. Click here to read their Writ of Mandate.

Their plan was for Pulido to be served by the Santa Ana City Clerk and then go to court. The hearing has since been set for April 6. Continue reading→

The Santa Ana City Council majority decided at their last-minute special meeting today to sue Mayor Miguel Pulido for not placing their illegal district election measure on the June Primary Election ballot, according to an inside source.

Apparently our City Attorney, Sonia Carvalho, hired an outside counsel to help her aid the City Council majority, which is currently comprised of Council Members David Benavides, Sal Tinajero, Vince Sarmiento and Jose Solorio, come to this awful decision. Continue reading→

The Santa Ana City Council majority proved once again this week that they are a bunch of clowns as their efforts to illegally place a district specific elections measure on the June primary election ballot failed miserably, according to the Voice of OC.

The City Council majority, which included Vince Sarmiento, Sal Tinajero, David Benavides and their new pal Jose Solorio, voted on Tuesday, this week, to place this measure on the June ballot. But they once again underestimated Mayor Miguel Pulido, who proceeded to punk them in royal fashion. Continue reading→

The 2017 Santa Ana State of the City Breakfast is coming up on August 9, 2017, from 7:30 AM – 9:15 AM, at the Bowers Museum, located at 2002 N. Main St., in Santa Ana.

This event will feature Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido, who will talk about how Santa Ana is doing. He usually joins his sons and his dad in performing a few traditional Mexican folks songs as well. Continue reading→

This special address by the city’s chief executive to hundreds of business leaders is presented by the Santa Ana Chamber of Commerce, with assistance from the City of Santa Ana. Community- minded business persons have a chance to show their civic pride and support for the city by attending the State of the City event. The Santa Ana City Council has voted to send Gerardo Mouet back to the Parks Department. He is no longer the acting Santa Ana City Manager.

Mouet has been replaced by Deputy City Manager Robert Cortez, who will be the acting city manager while the City Council looks for a permanent replacement for fired former City Manager David Cavazos. Continue reading→

Do you remember Angie Amezcua? She was accidentally elected a little over four years ago in Santa Ana’s Ward 3. She did not campaign at all that year. But her ballot title, “teacher” and her last name helped propel her to victory. She finished out her accidental term then walked away from the City Council, endorsing David De Leon, who proceeded to lose badly to Jose Solorio last November.

I guess Angie missed politics because she and her husband, Robert Oliver, joined ten other individuals, including the bitter loser De Leon, in signing a Notice of Intention to Circulate a Petition, on March 14, 2017. The group of 12 wanted to gather signatures for a campaign to recall Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido, who easily beat a socialist candidate in November, Benjamin Vazquez. Continue reading→

Community: Response to President Trump’s Executive Order on Immigration

SANTA ANA – The Santa Ana City Council, who recently adopted an ordinance solidifying into law a resolution declaring the City of Santa Ana a sanctuary for all its residents, has been confronted by President Donald Trump’s Executive Order that targets what he refers to as “sanctuary cities.” The City of Santa Ana respects the Office of the President of the United States, but respectfully disagrees with President Trump’s Executive Order that would take federal funds away from “sanctuary cities.”

“The safety and well-being of our community is our number-one priority. Santa Ana is committed to equality, and will continue to treat all its residents with respect and dignity,” said Mayor Miguel A. Pulido. Continue reading→

Mayor Pulido will present the Exceptional Citizen Award to Sandi Jackson for receiving the 2016 Outstanding Philanthropist Award. The Outstanding Philanthropist Award is presented at the National Philanthropy Day Awards Luncheon hosted by the Association of Fundraising Professionals, which recognizes the great contributions that philanthropy makes to our community and honors individuals, businesses, and support organizations that are active in the philanthropic community. In 1986, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed November 15th as National Philanthropy Day, which is a special day set aside for the purpose of recognizing the great contribution philanthropy makes to our society. Gerardo Mouet is now Santa Ana’s Acting City Manager

Gerardo Mouet, the executive director of the Santa Ana Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency, has been named Santa Ana’s acting City Manager, according to the O.C. Register.

Mouet was appointed after the new City Council majority voted on Wednesday to place our overpaid and oversexed city manager, David Cavazos, on administrative leave.  Continue reading→

Santa Ana residents got a late Christmas present today as our overpaid and oversexed City Manager, David Cavazos, was placed on paid administrative leave after a 4-0 City Council vote Wednesday afternoon, according to the O.C. Register.

As one might expect Cavazos’ allies on the City Council – Sal Tinajero, David Benavides and Vince Sarmiento, complained about this because they were not at today’s special meeting. Apparently they are all on vacation. Oh well! Even if they were here they could not have stopped this as Mayor Miguel Pulido had four votes on his side. Continue reading→
