THIRD STRIKER TO BE ARRAIGNED FOR THE SHOOTING MURDER OF MMA GYM OWNER IN TUSTIN

SANTA ANA, Calif. – A third striker is scheduled to be arraigned today for the shooting murder of a mixed martial arts (MMA) gym owner in Tustin. Kirk Vernell Price, 53, Santa Ana, is charged with one felony count of murder and one felony count of possession of a firearm by a felon, with a sentencing enhancement for the personal discharge of a firearm causing death, and three prior strike convictions for robbery with the use of a firearm in 1983 in Orange County. If convicted, Price faces a maximum sentence of 100 years to life in state prison. Price is scheduled to be arraigned today, March 28, 2016, in Department CJ-1, Central Jail, Santa Ana. Barricaded Suspect Arrested for Outstanding Warrant

MISSION VIEJO, Calif. – (October 9, 2014) – On Thursday, October 9, 2014, Orange County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Jason Nicholas Miller, 33, Mission Viejo, on an outstanding felony arrest warrant for domestic violence, stalking and violation of a court order as well as obstructing/delaying a peace officer resulting from today’s incident.

At approximately 10:00 a.m. this morning, deputies attempted to serve the outstanding arrest warrant on Miller in the driveway of the residence located at 26262 Avenida Calidad. Miller fled on foot and retreated into the residence where he remained barricaded for approximately four hours. Numerous commands and directives were made to Miller in an attempt to gain his compliance and surrender to deputies. Continue reading→

Santa Ana City Council proclamations are usually overlooked, however one that should have been noted was the honoring of Santa Ana’s own Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) title contender Gilbert “El Nino” Melendez for winning the Strikeforce Lightweight Championship and ranking #2 in his weight division.

Santa Ana Councilwoman Michele Martinez issued the proclamation at the Council meeting on Monday, June 3, 2013.  The City Council also honored Melendez for being a positive influence and representative of Santa Ana in the sports world. Continue reading→

Are you ready for a free MMA-inspired clinic, right here in Santa Ana?

Fighting for Fitness is an Orange County-based 501c(3) non-profit organization which is hosting a free MMA-inspired fitness clinic for children ages seven to 17 at Roosevelt Elementary School in Santa Ana. The event is open to the public and takes place Sunday, March 25. Registration is 11-12 p.m., clinic 12-1 p.m., and refreshments 1-2 p.m.

Local MMA training center to hold Casino Night at the Green Parrot

“El Nino Training Center, LLC is sponsoring a Casino Night on Friday, Oct. 9 at the Green Parrot Villa, 2035 N. Main St.,” according to the O.C. Register.

The event features games, an appearance by MMA Star Gilbert “El Nino” Melendez, $1 tacos and no host bar.

$25 gets you 100 chips, and 100 chips earns a raffle ticket. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., card play is from 6:30 to 9 p.m. and the raffle is at 9:30 p.m. Continue reading→
