FELON FACING ADDITIONAL CHARGES FOR PANDERING OVER 20 WOMEN WHILE INCARCERATED ON HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND PIMPING CHARGES

SANTA ANA, Calif. – A felon is facing additional charges for human trafficking, pimping, pandering, and assault. Deunta Patterson, 26, Bakersfield, was arraigned yesterday, March 28, 2017, with 22 felony counts of pandering by promise, threat, or violence to become a prostitute, four felony counts each of pimping and pandering a minor over 16 years old by procuring, two felony counts each of human trafficking, human trafficking of a minor, and attempted pimping, and one felony count each of pimping a minor, pandering, and assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury. Patterson also faces sentencing enhancements for human trafficking of a minor by force and/or fear and a prior strike conviction for residential burglary in 2013 in Kern County. If convicted, the defendant faces a maximum sentence of life in state prison. Patterson is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing on April 26, 2017, at 8:30 a.m. in Department C-57, Central Justice Center, Santa Ana. Continue reading→

Santa Ana man charged with molesting two girls, including one younger than 10

Joseph Margo, a 48-year-old man was charged Monday with sexually assaulting two girls, including one who was 10 or younger, in Santa Ana, according to the O.C. Register.

Margo is facing numerous felony charges including two counts each of sexual intercourse or sodomy with a child 10 or younger, committing a lewd or lascivious act with a minor younger than 14, oral copulation or sexual penetration of a child 10 or younger, and lewd acts on a child aged 14 or 15. Santa Ana gangbanger gets a 7 year prison sentence for shooting at police officers

Oscar Freddie Torres, a 19-year-old Santa Ana gang member, was sentenced to seven years in prison on Friday, for shooting at SAPD police officers who were responding to a domestic dispute, according to the O.C. Register.

Torres was able to avoid attempted murder charges by pleading guilty on Nov. 29 to grossly negligent discharge of a firearm. Torres still got a lengthy prison sentence because he also admitted to sentencing enhancement allegations regarding the personal use of a firearm and criminal street gang activity. Continue reading→

MAN POSING AS MODELING AGENT SENTENCED TO 12 YEARS AND EIGHT MONTHS IN PRISON FOR SEXUALLY ASSAULTING MINOR GIRLS AND POSSESSING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – A man who posed as a modeling agent and professional photographer was sentenced today to 12 years and eight months in state prison for sexually assaulting minor girls and possessing child pornography. Christopher Andrew Brown, 44, Bell Canyon, pleaded guilty on Dec. 22, 2016, to five felony counts of sexual penetration by a foreign object of a minor, five felony counts of oral copulation of a minor, one felony count of possession and control of child pornography, one felony count of using a minor for distribution of obscene material, and one felony count of lewd acts on a child. In addition to prison, Brown was sentenced to mandatory lifetime sex offender registration.

At the time of the crime, Brown traveled as a freelance photographer and told victims he was a modeling agent. The defendant previously worked as a children’s gymnastics coach. Continue reading→

DRUNKEN SPEEDING DRIVER SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS TO LIFE IN PRISON FOR MURDERING MAN AFTER RUNNING RED LIGHT

SANTA ANA, Calif. – A drunken speeding driver was sentenced today to 15 years to life in state prison for murdering a man after running a red light and crashing into the car the victim was riding in. Herbert Granados Calderon, 26, Santa Ana, pleaded guilty on March 7, 2017, to one felony count of murder. The defendant was also ordered to pay restitution.

At approximately 9:00 p.m. on Oct. 25, 2013, Calderon drove southbound at a high rate of speed on Bristol Street in Santa Ana while under the influence of alcohol. The defendant drove through a red light at the Central Avenue intersection and crashed his car into the right rear passenger door of a black Honda Civic which was driving lawfully through the intersection. The victim, 18-year-old Roberto Rubio, was seated in the back seat of the Honda Civic. The force of the collision caused the Honda Civic to rotate clockwise and collide with another vehicle which was lawfully waiting to turn left at the intersection. Rubio died as a result of injuries he sustained during the crash. Continue reading→

FORMER FUGITIVE CONVICTED OF 1992 COLD CASE MURDER OF 19-YEAR-OLD WOMAN

*Defendant fled to Mexico and was extradited 10 years later

SANTA ANA, Calif. – A man who was extradited to Orange County from Mexico was convicted yesterday of murdering a 19-year-old woman in 1992. Leonardo Pimentel Sanchez, 59, Mexico City, Mexico, was found guilty by a jury on March 22, 2017, of one felony count of first degree murder. The defendant faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in state prison. He also faces sentencing enhancements for two prior felony convictions for a 1978 robbery and a 1984 rape and digital penetration in Orange County. The defendant was arrested in Mexico in November 2012, and extradited to Orange County July 23, 2013, following extradition proceedings. A sentencing date has yet to be determined.

Man gets only five years in prison after multiple bank robberies in Santa Ana and Fountain Valley

Joseph Anthony Perez, 27-years old, pleaded guilty and was sentenced on Monday to five years in prison for committing two bank robberies and two attempted stickups in Santa Ana and Fountain Valley in a three-day period, according to the O.C. Register.

Perez was out of custody for about two weeks when he began the bank-robbing spree. He was sentenced back on Feb. 10 to two years in jail for pleading guilty in September to burglary and grand theft charges. Continue reading→

MAN SENTENCED TO 12 YEARS IN PRISON FOR USING SOCIAL MEDIA TO CONTACT MINORS TO COMMIT LEWD ACTS

SANTA ANA, Calif. – A man was sentenced to 12 years in state prison today for contacting underage victims through social media with the intent of committing lewd acts. Michael Theodore Mordaunt, 47, Cypress, pleaded guilty on Feb. 9, 2017, to 19 felony counts of contacting a child with the intent to commit a specified crime,five felony counts of lewd acts upon a child age 14 or 15,two felony counts of lewd acts upon a child under 14, three felony counts of meeting a minor with the intent to engage in lewd conduct, one felony count of possession and control of child pornography, and a sentencing enhancement allegation for substantial sexual conduct with a child. In addition to prison, Mordaunt was also sentenced to mandatory lifetime sex offender registration.

At the time of the crime, Mordaunt was working in the Information Technology Department of the Boeing Company in Seal Beach. Continue reading→

SANTA ANA, Calif. – A parolee who trafficked a woman while on GPS monitoring was sentenced yesterday to 233 years to life in prison for kidnapping, raping, and pimping a victim on the Fourth of July. Beau James Dearborne, 38, Santa Ana, was found guilty by a jury on Nov. 17, 2016, of two felony counts each of forcible rape in concert, oral copulation in concert with force and fear, pimping, and pandering, and one felony count each of human trafficking, kidnapping to commit rape, and second degree robbery. The defendant admitted a prior serious and violent felony strike conviction for rape of an unconscious person in 2010 in Orange County, and sentencing enhancements for prior prison convictions in 2003 and 2006 in Clark County, Nevada. Dearborne was sentenced on March 16, 2017, to 228 years determinate and 5 years to life indeterminate. Continue reading→

Santa Ana man will spend about four years in prison after carving his name in his girlfriend’s chest

Sergio Joaquin Mendoza, a 27-year-old man was convicted Thursday of carving his name on his girlfriend’s chest with a razor blade and several other attacks in Santa Ana two years ago, according to the O.C. Register.

FULLERTON, Calif. – A San Bernadino man was convicted yesterday of human trafficking, pimping, and pandering of several women. Ronald Preston Spurlock, 38, Grand Terrace, was found guilty by a jury on March 8, 2017, of two felony counts of human trafficking, four felony counts of pimping, eight felony counts of pandering, and one felony count of conspiring to dissuade a witness. Spurlock also pleaded guilty on Feb. 27, 2017, to one felony count of possession of a firearm by a felon. The defendant faces a maximum sentence of 34 years in state prison and mandatory lifetime sex offender registration at his sentencing on June 16, 2017, at 8:30 a.m. in Department N-11, North Justice Center, Fullerton. Man pleads guilty after killing an 18-year old in a DUI crash in Santa Ana

Herbert Granados Calderon, a 26-year-old man, pleaded guilty Tuesday to causing an alcohol-fueled, three-vehicle crash that killed an 18-year-old man and injured five others in Santa Ana, according to the O.C. Register.

Calderon will be sentenced on March 24. He will likely receive 15 years to life in prison. Calderon pleaded guilty to second- degree murder for the Oct. 25, 2014 car crash that killed Roberto Rubio, according to the OCDA. Continue reading→
