TWO MEN TO BE ARRAIGNED ON CHARGES OF SEX TRAFFICKING TWO FEMALE MINORS UNDER PRETENSE OF TAKING ROAD TRIP

SANTA ANA – Two men will be arraigned today on charges of sex trafficking two minor girls under the pretense of taking a road trip. Michael Wayne Greer, 24, and Jaylin Juwan Marshall, 20, both of Sacramento, are each charged with two felony counts of human trafficking, two felony counts of pandering a minor over 16 years old by procuring, one felony count of pimping a minor for Jane Doe #1, and one felony count of attempting to pimp a minor for Jane Doe #2, with a sentencing enhancement for human trafficking by coercion, deceit and fear. Marshall has a prior conviction for a 2011 residential burglary in Sacramento County. If convicted on all counts, Greer faces a maximum sentence of 30 years to life in state prison, and Marshall faces a maximum sentence of 60 years to life in state prison. The People will be requesting $1 million bail for both defendants at their arraignment scheduled today, Aug. 2, 2013, in Department CJ-1, Central Jail, Santa Ana. The time is to be determined. TREASURER SCHEDULED TO BE ARRAIGNED FOR EMBEZZLING OVER $110,000 FROM CHURCH BANK ACCOUNTS

*Defendant is accused of laundering money through an Indian gaming casino

SANTA ANA – A treasurer is scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow for embezzling over $110,000 from church bank accounts. Fiatala Manu, 46, Lake Elsinore, is charged with four felony counts of money laundering, seven felony counts of falsifying records, one felony count of embezzlement by fiduciary of trust, one felony count of grand theft with sentencing enhancements for committing an aggravated white collar crime over $100,000, and property damage over $65,000. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 11 years and four months in state prison. He is being held on $100,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow, Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. in Department CJ-1, Central Jail, Santa Ana. Continue reading→

WOMAN SENTENCED TO 16 MONTHS IN PRISON FOR SEXUALLY ASSAULTING TEEN RELATIVE’S 14 AND 16-YEAR-OLD HOCKEY FRIENDS

SANTA ANA – A woman was sentenced today to 16 months in state prison for sexually assaulting two boys, ages 14 and 16 years old, who played on the hockey team of her teenage relative. Kathia Maria Davis, 46, Laguna Niguel, pleaded guilty June 27, 2013, to four felony counts of lewd acts on a child for John Doe #1. The defendant was previously found guilty by a jury Aug. 9, 2012, of four felony counts of unlawful sexual intercourse for John Doe #2, and two misdemeanor counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor for John Doe #2 and Jane Doe #1. That jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict regarding the sex crimes against John Doe #1. In addition to her prison sentence, the defendant is subject to lifetime sex offender registration. THIRTEEN MEN CONVICTED AND SENTENCED FOR SOLICITING SEX FROM UNDERCOVER OFFICER IN HIGH HUMAN TRAFFICKING AREA IN SANTA ANA

SANTA ANA – Thirteen men, who were arrested in an undercover sting operation, pleaded guilty and were sentenced yesterday for soliciting sex or sex acts from an undercover police officer, whom they believed to be a prostitute in an area known for human trafficking. David Arellano, 36; Adan Castillo, 29; Ricardo Diaz, 41; Daniel Lopez, 29; German Lopez, 41; Alberto Napoles, 25; Jose Navarro, 56; Michael Rodriguez, 33; Serafin Romero, 23; Juan Ruiz, 41; Gregorio Sosa, 28; and Fidel Urquiza, 44, pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of soliciting another to engage in prostitution. Arellano, Castillo, Lopez, Romero, and Sosa also pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of driving without a license. Each of the defendants were sentenced to three years of informal probation, 10 days in jail with the possibility of CalTrans in lieu of jail, and must submit DNA as well as AIDS testing and education. SANTA ANA – A man will face trial Monday for the beating-murder of his girlfriend’s sister’s 18-month-old daughter and abusing another child in a similar way in 2009. Juan Carlos Aguilar, 27, Santa Ana, is charged with one felony count of murder, one felony count of assault on a child with force likely to produce great bodily injury resulting in death, and two felony counts of child abuse. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 31 years to life in state prison. SANTA ANA – A parolee was convicted yesterday on charges of sexually assaulting a 4-year-old female relative while he was babysitting her and solely responsible for her care. Gordon Ray Bodkin, 47, Huntington Beach, was found guilty July 23, 2013, by a jury of one felony count of unlawful sexual intercourse with a child under 10, and one felony count of sexual penetration of a child under 10. He has a prior strike conviction for residential burglary in 2009. He faces a maximum sentence of 55 years to life in state prison and mandatory lifetime sex offender registration at his sentencing Aug. 30, 2013, at 10:45 a.m. in Department C-39, Central Justice Center, Santa Ana. Suspect in 1992 Homicide Extradited to Orange County

SANTA ANA, California – (July 24, 2013) – Leonardo Pimentel-Sanchez, a fugitive who eluded law
enforcement for more than 20 years, was returned to Orange County on Tuesday, July 23, from Mexico City
where he had been held since his arrest in Tijuana on November 16, 2012.

Pimentel-Sanchez is a suspect in the murder of Cari Ann Parnes who was discovered deceased in an
orange grove in Irvine on March 26, 1992. Parnes’ cause of death was attributed to a skull fracture due to

Justice for Jesus Arturo Aguirre is set for Monday, July 22, 2013, from 9:00 am until 11:00 am, at the OC District Attorney’s office, located at 401 Civic Center DR W, in Santa Ana.

Organizers of this protest are demanding a stop to :

Police abuse
The unilateral gang enhancement
Sentencing minors as adults
And the continuing criminalization of youth of color

They want the prosecution of corrupt and killer cops.

As a victim of the prison industrial complex, Jesús Arturo Aguirre was sentenced to life in prison at age 16, during a devious trial based on intimidation and the exaggeration of the facts. He was convicted of eight
charges that had to do with a personal dispute between two other people resulting in a minor injury. Nevertheless, for being part of the same social network, Jesús was found to be the only suspect of this quarel.

CAR BUSINESS OWNER SENTENCED FOR EMBEZZLING $200,000 IN PROCEEDS FROM CUSTOMER VEHICLES SOLD ON CONSIGNMENT

SANTA ANA – A car business owner and operator was convicted and sentenced today for embezzling $200,000 from the sale proceeds of rare and vintage vehicles sold on consignment. John Calicchio, 63, Costa Mesa, pleaded guilty to 14 counts of embezzlement by fiduciary of trust, two counts of diversion of funds, and four counts of money laundering with a sentencing enhancement for property loss over $200,000. Under the State sentencing law (AB 109), the court split the defendant’s sentence. Calicchio was sentenced to 16 months in jail, two years of mandatory supervision, and ordered to pay $177,000 restitution. Continue reading→

The convicted defendants include: Michael Davis, 36; Heladio Herrera, 21; Silvestre Jacob, 40; Paulino Martinez, 40; Tony Nguyen, 45; Luis Ortiz, 27; Francisco Rios, 33; and Herbert Yoneoka, 68. All of the defendants pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of soliciting another to engage in prostitution. Alayban is charged with one felony count of human trafficking of a Kenyan woman into the United States and forcing the victim to work as a domestic servant against her will in the first forced labor human trafficking case to be prosecuted in Orange County under California’s Proposition 35. WESTMINSTER – A man has been convicted and sentenced for picking up a prostitute and arranging to pay her $30 for sex. This defendant was arrested after the April 2013 creation of the Orange County District Attorney’s (OCDA) Human Exploitation And Trafficking (HEAT) Unit and is the first to be convicted after the OCDA’s announcement that the identities of convicted sex purchases will be publicized. Hugo Perez, 31, pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of agreeing to engage in prostitution and one misdemeanor count of driving without a license. He was sentenced to three years of informal probation, 15 days in jail with the possibility of CalTrans in lieu of jail, and must submit to AIDS testing and education. Continue reading→
