On Saturday, November 16th, 2013 at 1:48 am, patrol officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle traffic collision at the intersection of McFadden Avenue and Mohawk Drive. The officers located one vehicle that had three trapped/injured occupants and requested the assistance of OCFA and Medics. The vehicles involved were a ’89 silver Nissan Sentra and a ’06 black Chevrolet Silverado 2500 pickup truck. Baker Fire in Silverado Canyon 80% contained according to the OCFA
The Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) has announced a Baker Fire Update at 9 am: 80% contained, estimated acres is 40, expected containment October 10, 1 barn damaged. There are 7 fire engines, 5 fire hand crews, 6 bulldozers, 2 excavators, 7 water tenders, with a total of 270 personnel on scene.

Santa Ana cosmetics company goes up in flames early this morning
Crews from multiple fire departments knocked down a four-alarm blaze that erupted early Wednesday outside at a Santa Ana warehouse belonging to the La Rosa Company, located at the 2100 block of South Anne Street. Emergency personnel responded to the fire at about 1:15 a.m. after multiple callers reported the fire, which threatened at least four buildings, according to the KTLA.
The warehouse contained metal containers with corrosive materials, said Orange County Fire Authority spokesman Steve Concialdi. The structure did not burn, but chemicals stored outside the warehouse burned under an awning, fire officials said, according to NBC. Continue reading

MAN CHARGED WITH ARSON FOR SETTING FIRES IN YORBA LINDA AND ANAHEIM
SANTA ANA – A man was charged today with arson for setting fires in Yorba Linda and Anaheim. Gabriel Michael Castillo, 19, Anaheim, (editor’s note: Castillo is the son of an OC Fire Authority Firefighter) is charged with five felony counts each of arson of forest, three felony counts of arson of another’s property, and one felony count of receiving stolen property. If convicted on all counts, Castillo faces a maximum sentence of 13 years and eight months in state prison. The People will request the defendant be held on $100,000 bail at his arraignment today, Aug. 27, 2013, in Department CJ-1, Central Jail, Santa Ana. The time is to be determined. Continue reading
Cops allegedly made anti Mexican statements as they arrested a 17 year old
By now you have read about the ruckus in Santa Ana yesterday when there was a “after a confrontation between a large crowd and police officers Wednesday evening, in the area of West Camille Street,” according to the O.C. Register.
Shortly after 6 p.m. Wednesday, an Orange County Fire Authority crew responding to a medical call in the 3300 block of West Camille Street requested police assistance, telling dispatchers that two men were harassing them while they were trying to attend to a patient, Cmdr. Steve Colon said. As a result, three men and a juvenile were arrested, said Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna.
But hold the presses. The community is fighting back. Apparently the 17 year old who was arrested, Sergio Galan, is a 4.0 student who speaks English quite well. But the cops who beat him up and arrested him did not know that as they allegedly made anti-Mexican statements. Continue reading

Santa Ana could save over $10,500,000 annually with switch to O.C. Fire
The City of Santa Ana could save over ten million dollars a year by signing on with the Orange County Fire Authority, according to a proposal submitted to our city manager by OCFA Fire Chief Keith Richter.
According to the proposal, “OCFA will be offering a Division Chief position to the current Santa Ana Fire Chief, who will be instrumental in the transition process for the City. The Division Chief provides a level of local control for the City Council and staff by participation on relevant public safety committees, participation at city staff meetings and attendance at city council meetings. The option also includes the transition of 192 sworn personnel and 141 non-sworn personnel*.” Continue reading
