Jaquinn Ramone Bell arrested for the death of three girls in a hit and run accident

Jaquinn Ramone Bell was arrested at a motel in Stanton, where he was taken into custody with two other adults and two teenage children, 17 and 14 years old, Santa Ana Police Chief Carlos Rojas said at a news conference Monday morning, according to KPCC.

The two unidentified adults were later released and the children were handed over to a legal guardian., according to CBS News.

The chief said the Orange County district attorney’s office was reviewing the case, according to ABC News. Continue reading→

Memorial funds set up for the three little girls killed in a Halloween hit and run

The family of twins Alexandra and Lexi Perez Huerta, who died tragically this Halloween when they were struck by a hit and run driver in north Santa Ana, has set up a Memorial Fund to help pay for the girls’ funeral and to raise awareness.

Over $22,000 had been donated to the Perez Huerta family as of Sunday afternoon. The stated goal was $10,000.

Dr. Jim D’Agostino, the principal of Santiago Charter Middle School, where the other victim, Andrea Gonzalez, was an eighth grader, established a separate GoFundMe account for the young girl’s family. Over $12,000 has been donated, of the $15,000 goal, as of Sunday evening. Continue reading→

Arrests made in connection to hit and run death of three girls on Halloween

As of today at 11:30 am, there have been multiple arrests made in connection to the hit and run deaths of three 13 year old girls that occurred in the 1400 block of E. Fairhaven on Friday October 31, 2014 at 6:45 pm, according to the Santa Ana Police Department.

Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido later said five people had been arrested, according to KTLA.

There will be a press conference tomorrow, Monday November 3, 2014 at 11:00 am at Santa Ana Police Department in the Community Room. There will be NO further information released until the press conference tomorrow. Continue reading→

Advisory: SAPD Traffic Investigation- fatal collision Bristol/Central driver arrested DUI

ARRESTED: Herbert Granados Calderon (23) Santa Ana

On 10/25/14 at approximately 2121 hours, officers responded to a traffic collision at Bristol St. and Central Av. Officers arrived on scene and located three vehicles that were involved in the collision. Each vehicle had multiple passengers and there were several injuries. Paramedics further determined that an 18 year old male passenger in a Honda had been killed in the collision.

A Lexus traveled southbound on Bristol St. and failed to stop at the red light at Central Av. The Lexus broadsided a Honda and the force of that collision caused the Honda to collide with a Chevrolet pick-up truck. Continue reading→

On Wednesday, October 22, 2014 around 7:15 P.M. Anaheim Police Officers were called to the 2300 block of W. Greenacre Ave. to investigate the shooting of 9 year-old Anaheim resident Ximena Meza. Meza had been to the front of her apartment complex playing with her sisters when gunshots rang out. Meza was struck once in her chest by an assailant’s bullet. Reyna blows off the Santa Ana Police Officers Association and loses their support

The OC Register and the Voice of OC continue to ignore the biggest story in the 2014 Santa Ana City Council races as the Santa Ana Police Officers Association (SAPOA) has asked Santa Ana Councilman Roman Reyna to explain why he was caught posing with hard core gang bangers in a picture that was circulated on Facebook.

Today SAPOA sent a second letter to Reyna, stating “In no way was this letter meant to be judge and jury of your active participation or association with known criminal enterprises however as supporters of your 2012 City Council campaign we felt strongly that a formal response was necessary.” Continue reading→

Benavides, Reyna and Martinez rejected by two more law enforcement associations

Both the Anaheim Police Association and the Peace Officers Research Association of California have rejected Santa Ana Council Members David Benavides and Michele Martinez as well as their colleague Roman Reyna, who is in the midst of an ill-advised Mayoral campaign.

This comes on the heels of rejections of these candidates by the Association of Orange County Deputy Sheriffs. The Santa Ana Police Officers Association (SAPOA) also rejected Reyna and Martinez.

Reyna really stepped in it when SAPOA called him out after a picture of Reyna with two hard core gang bangers was posted on Facebook. He has since become toxic to the entire Santa Ana City Council majority, which recently splintered when Benavides attacked Mayor Pro Tem Sal Tinajero. Continue reading→

(Santa Ana, CA) Today, Westfield MainPlace Mall has announced they will be holding an active shooter drill on Wednesday, October 22, 2014. The drill will allow participants from the mall, the Santa Ana Police Department, and the Orange County Fire Authority to work together during a realistic active shooter scenario. The purpose of the drill is to give mall employees and the police and fire departments an opportunity to exercise their response plans and procedures in the event of an active shooter in the mall.

Given the unfortunate occurrence of recent active shooter incidents around the world, Jonathan Maher, the General Manager of Westfield MainPlace, requested and helped plan the drill to ensure his personnel were familiar with procedures and had a chance to practice how they would react. Armed men rob the OC Recording Company recording studio in Santa Ana

Advisory: SAPD ROBBERY DETECTIVES REQUEST ASSISTANCE IN IDENTIFYING VEHICLE USED IN ARMED ROBBERY

SYNOPSIS: On 10/07/14, at about 2218 hrs., three male blacks entered The OC Recording Company recording studio under the pretense of recording an album. The owner/victim told the male black suspects he was not aware of an appointment at that time, but requested they wait outside. The suspects then entered the business and produced handguns.

The suspects tied up the owner/victim and a second employee/victim of the recording studio. As both victims were tied up, the suspects questioned the victims about the value of their studio equipment and location of a safe. The victims cooperated with the suspect requests. During the robbery, the suspects stole several pieces of high- end studio equipment, which included microphones, guitars, and miscellaneous computer equipment. Continue reading→

Young man’s rude protest results in the shut down of tonight’s City Council meeting

Mayor Miguel Pulido canceled Tuesday night’s Santa Ana City Council meeting after a man refused to remove a cap with an anti-police expletive on it, according to the OC Register.

The young man in question, identified as “Bijan” is affiliated with Santa Ana CopWatch. They posted this message on their Facebook page after the City Council meeting was shut down, “The city council meeting got shut down. The mayor and the cops tried a bluff saying that if we didn’t leave that we would get arrested. Over a hat. The cops were even showing off their cuffs. We stayed and it got shut down. Media was there so expect it in the news. In solidarity with all survivors and victims of police violence. From Santa Ana to Ferguson to Palestine: F*ck the Police.”

These actions were clearly premeditated. The ruckus actually began over a month ago at a previous Council meeting when Mayor Miguel Pulido was upset that while he was trying to give service awards to two Santa Ana police officers there were protestors seated in the Council Chambers holding “f*ck the police” signs. No one on the City Council said or did anything about that and in fact they all ignored the police too. Pulido was the only one who congratulated them on their awards. The meeting left a very negative impression on the members of the Santa Ana Police Officers Association and their President, John Franks, later sent a stern letter to the City Council announcing that unless they could control what happened at their meetings he would not allow his officers to receive awards in Chambers but instead they would be given out at the SAPD headquarters. The Santa Ana Police Department has for decades leased cars for use by detectives for undercover assignments like the gang detail, narcotics and vice.

The detective staff relies on the use of the lease vehicles for their own safety and as necessary tools to be able to conduct investigations. This is the norm in almost every major department and state and federal police agency across the country that uses undercover police cars.

SAPD Police Chief Carlos Rojas’ detectives are really upset because Chief Rojas has taken the leased vehicles away from the undercover assignments and assigned them to his handpicked top staff – the Commanders and two Deputy Chiefs. This group is represented by the police management association. A labor group just like the Santa Ana Police Officers Association only it represents just the Commanders and Deputy Chiefs. On Sunday, October 5th, between 6 AM and 5 PM, the Santa Ana Police Department’s Traffic Section will be working the City sponsored SOMOS event. This event includes a complete closure of Main St. between 3rd Street and Warner for the entire day.
