Will the SAPD finally crack down on illegal fireworks this year?

In the last two weeks, the Costa Mesa Police Department has seized 1,300 pounds of illegal fireworks. The City of Costa Mesa is a zero-tolerance city. Selling illegal fireworks is a felony, and possession/use of illegal fireworks is a misdemeanor punishable by up to $1000 fine and/or jail time.

Selling illegal fireworks in Santa Ana also can result in a minimum fine of $1,000 and even up to one year in jail. However will the SAPD actually get serious about illegal fireworks this year?  Continue reading→

A man somehow survived after being hit by two cars on Thursday night in Santa Ana

An unidentified man has been hospitalized after he was hit by two cars while crossing a Santa Ana street Thursday, June 28, according to the O.C. Register.

The victim was crossing she street at the 1300 block of West First St., just west of S. Bristol Street, at around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday night when he was hit by one car and then by another car. Both drivers sped off and did not check on the man or call the police, according to the SAPD. Continue reading→

A Riverside gangbanger got 9 years in jail for murdering a Santa Ana man

Joshua Anthony Encinas, a 24-year-old Riverside man, was sentenced to nine years in state prison for shooting Joseph Frank Garcia, 23-years-old, to death behind a closed grocery store in Santa Ana last year, according to the O.C. Register.

Encinas could have faced more time behind bars but he accepted a plea agreement on June 22 that resulted in a murder charge being dropped. He did plead guilty however to charges of voluntary manslaughter and personal use of a gun. Continue reading→

Texas man convicted of molesting an 8-year-old girl in Santa Ana

Dustin Lee Morgan, a 39-year-old Texas man is scheduled to be sentenced on July 20, for breaking into an 8-year-old girl’s bedroom in Santa Ana and molesting her, according to the O.C. Register.

Morgan was convicted of lewd acts on a minor younger than 14 and sexual penetration with a child younger than 10, which are both felony charges. Continue reading→

Advisory: SAPD Detective Investigating Homicide – 1700 Newport Circle

Victim: Robert Silva (18) Santa Ana

On 06-23-18 at approximately 1:14 a.m., a citizen called the Santa Ana Police Department reporting a shooting in the area of 1700 Newport Circle. Responding officers determined a large group of juveniles and young adults attended an unsanctioned outdoor party in the street/parking lot of an industrial park.

During the gathering, a shooting occurred. Prior to the arrival of officers, partygoers transported a lone male shooting victim to a local area hospital. Doctors declared him deceased at 1:41 a.m. Continue reading→

Santa Ana convict charged with attempted murder after he ran over a woman with his SUV

Arturo Sanchez, a 25-year-old Santa Ana man, was charged with attempted murder today. He is suspected of hitting a woman with an SUV and dragging her approximately 40 yards, according to the O.C. Register.

Sanchez has been charged with five felonies, including attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, hit and run with injury and second-degree burglary – stemming from a traffic collision in the 2500 block of South Yale Street that happened on Monday. Continue reading→

Advisory: Santa Ana PD Investigating Single Vehicle Fatal Collision – 2600 Block West MacArthur Blvd

Deceased: Diego Stevan Garcia (27) Santa Ana

On Friday, June 15, 2018 at approximately 12:27 AM, officers from the Santa Ana Police Department responded to the area of 2600 block W. MacArthur Boulevard in regards to a vehicle vs. tree collision with a baby reported to be in the vehicle. OCFA responded and treated the three occupants at the scene.

The male driver, Diego Stevan Garcia, was pronounced deceased shortly thereafter while the female adult and infant passengers were transported by CARE Ambulance to the OC Global Medical Center for treatment of their respective moderate and minor injuries. Continue reading→
