Advisory: SAPD and OCDA Investigating In Custody Death
On Wednesday, August 4, 2017 at approximately 9:49 pm, Santa Ana Jail Correctional Officers discovered a U.S. Marshal’s Service detainee unresponsive in his cell.
Correctional Officers initiated life-saving measures while awaiting the arrival of OCFA medics. Medics transported the inmate to a local hospital where he was stabilized and ultimately admitted due to his medical condition. Continue reading
An unidentified armed man is suspected of taking an undisclosed amount of cash and electronics from a Verizon Wireless store at 1730 E. 17th St., in Santa Ana, at 9 p.m. last night, Aug. 10, according to the O.C. Register.
The suspect pulled up his shirt to reveal a handgun in his waistband, when he entered the store, according to the SAPD. He then ordered the store’s employees to go to the back of the store and demanded that they open the store’s safe. Continue reading

An unidentified man suspected of driving a stolen car and leading SAPD police officers on a chase, crashed into two cars before being arrested yesterday, according to the O.C. Register.
SAPD police officers tried to pull over the suspect on Wednesday afternoon, at around 4:50 p.m., on August 2, as he was driving a Jaguar. He was suspected of a traffic violation near the cross streets of S. Bristol Street and W. Warner Avenue, according to the SAPD. Continue reading

Advisory: Crime Alert – Community Assistance Needed
Santa Ana Police Detectives are looking for a suspect that attempted to sexually assault an adult female in her home. The incident occurred On July 30th in the 3200 hundred block of south Main Street in Santa Ana. The victim was asleep in her living room and woke up at 2 a.m. after she heard a noise by the open front window. The victim looked towards the window and saw the suspect standing outside. The victim saw that the suspect had already removed the screen and he ordered the victim to come to the window while he simulated a handgun and threatened to shoot her. Continue reading

Advisory: Detectives Investigating Homicide – 4200 Block West Fay Circle
On Saturday, July 29, 2017 at approximately 10:24 PM, the Santa Ana Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at the 4200 block of West Fay Circle in the city of Santa Ana.
Upon arrival, Officers discovered the scene of a traffic collision. They also found an adult Hispanic male with an apparent gunshot wound to his upper body. Continue reading
Caltrans crews that were doing landscaping work near the 4th Street on-ramp to the 55 Freeway north found a decomposing body on Thursday, July 27, according to the O.C. Register.
The Tustin police reported that the dead body appeared to be that of a man. They do not feel that the death was due to a homicide but are conducting an investigation. Continue reading
The Orange County District Attorney’s Office has cleared Detective David Prewett, an SAPD police officer who shot and killed Steve Salgado, an unarmed 18-year-old, who was running from members of the Santa Ana Police Department’s Gang Suppression Unit, according to the O.C. Register.
The incident happened on Jan. 29, at around 4:40 p.m., at the 400 block of South Birch St., in Santa Ana, when Prewett and five other SAPD police officers were patrolling the neighborhood when the saw an occupied vehicle parked in the middle of an alley, effectively blocking street traffic. The OCFA, SAPD and Orange County Sheriff’s Department have responded to the Villa Del Sol apartments at the 800 block of South Fairview Street where one person has died, according to the Fountain Valley Patch.

An unidentified man reportedly ran from SAPD police officers, after a car crash, and jumped over several fences while holding a baby in his arms, before he abandoned the baby and hid in a house, according to the O.C. Register.

On Monday, July 24, 2017, at approximately 8:30 p.m., the suspect enters the Jack in the Box located at 820 N. Harbor Blvd., brandishes a handgun, and hands a note to the employee demanding money. The victim handed the suspect cash. The suspect was last seen running from the location.
Jack in the Box is the third robbery of fast food restaurants in the last seven days that occurred on Harbor Blvd (1st – 101 S. Harbor Blvd. – El Pollo Loco and 2nd – 666 S. Harbor Blvd. – McDonald’s). The suspect is believed to be the same suspect in robberies throughout Orange County. Continue reading
The SAPD is investigating the suspicious death of an unidentified homeless man in his 60s whose dead body was found on Tuesday, July 25, at around 7:35 a.m., on a sidewalk in downtown Santa Ana, near the 4th Street Market and Playground restaurant, at the 400 block of North Bush Street, according to the O.C. Register.
The victim had sustained a head wound. The police do not yet know if he fell or was pushed from a nearby parking structure or if he was attacked. Continue reading
