Tran Nguyen, of Lake Forest, a 90-year-old man died on Sunday after he was hit by a car while crossing an intersection in Santa Ana, according to the O.C. Register.
The accident happened at the intersection of Harbor Blvd. and Westminster Ave. Police received a call on Sunday at 9:24 a.m. and when they arrived at the scene they found the victim lying on the ground. Continue reading→

FULLERTON, Calif. – A man was convicted today of sexually assaulting a friend’s 15-year-old daughter for a decade. Isidro Medrano Garcia, 42, Bell Gardens, was found guilty by a jury today of three felony counts of lewd acts on a minor. Garcia faces a maximum sentence of fouryears and four months in state prison at his sentencing on April 15, 2016, at 9:00 a.m. in Department N-11, North Justice Center, Fullerton.

Summary: Thu, 3/3/16 10:37pm, Officers responded to Underground DTSA (Nightclub) at 220 East Third St. reference a call of a stabbing. The male victim, Nathan Joe Alfara (23) was inside the venue listening to punk music, when an altercation ensued and the suspect, Juan Angel Rivera (21) stabbed the victim in the upper torso. It has happened again. A young man, Nathan Joe Alfaro, of Westminster, was murdered in Downtown Santa Ana, this time at a concert venue called Underground DTSA, on Thursday night, according to the O.C. Register.
A 23-year-old man was fatally stabbed when a fight broke out at about 10:30 p.m., inside Underground DTSA, which is located at 220 East Third St., in Santa Ana’s East End Promenade.
The fight broke out as the second of five punk rock bands scheduled to perform Thursday night was playing. “It was just one psycho dude who started a mosh pit,” musician Laena Geronimo said, according to KTLA. Continue reading→

Advisory: Santa Ana Experiences 29% Decrease in Shootings
In response to an increase in gang-related shootings during the month of January, 2016, the Santa Ana Police Department has deployed additional police officers and detectives to conduct proactive crime enforcement. This directed enforcement was purposefully concentrated in areas of our community most impacted by gang activity. The results thus far include 23 guns seized and 113 gang members arrested by SAPD gang detectives, and a 29% decrease in shootings during the month of February alone. Continue reading→

Synopsis: On 02/04/16, at approximately 1440 hours, a female suspect is caught on video as she vandalized a Santa Ana parking control vehicle after being issued a parking citation.

Advisory: Suspect Wanted In Pursuit and Assault with a Deadly Weapon on a Police Officer Captured
Arrested: Jesse Angel Ramos (20) Santa Ana
Booking Charges: Assault with a Deadly Weapon on a Police Officer, Felony Evading and Hit and Run Collision
Summary: Thursday, 2-25-16, at approximately 3:07PM, a SAPD motor officer attempted to stop a black Ford Mustang for traffic violations in the area of 5th and Jackson when the driver accelerated and failed to yield.
A pursuit ensued during which the suspect vehicle collided with a civilian’s vehicle and continued to flee. At one point, the suspect stopped and began backing directly at the motor officer, using the suspect vehicle as a weapon. The motor officer was able to avoid the suspect vehicle. Continue reading→
The family and friends of Ernesto Canepa, a man shot to death by SAPD police officers on February 27, 2015, are holding a protest this afternoon at the corner of 3rd and Shelton in DTSA, according to a Facebook page.
Canepa was suspected of stealing a necklace from a grandmother in Santa Ana, in front of her grandkids.

Several people were stabbed, one with a flag pole, during a brawl on Saturday morning between self-described Ku Klux Klan members and counter-protesters at Pearson Park, in Anaheim today, according to the O.C. Register.
The attack happened at around 11 a.m. this morning when five KKK members showed up at Pearson Park. The KKK leaders had announced their intention to rally at the park earlier this week. The clan members drove up in a vehicle and were confronted by protesters right away.

Advisory: SAPD DETECTIVES ARREST SUSPECT FOR GRAND THEFT SCAM
Santa Ana Police Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division have arrested Michael Garduno, age 25, of Santa Ana, for Grand Theft. Detectives believe Garduno met victims after posting Craigslist ads offering to sell high end vehicles he didn’t actually own at a steep discount. In fact, the vehicles he offered for sale were owned by various local auto dealers and were for sale on their lots. The suspect convinced the victim he was authorized to sell the vehicles, collected cash from the victims, and then fled.
In one incident, the Audi South Coast dealership in the Santa Ana Auto Mall Drive had a 2013 Audi S5 for sale on their used car lot listed at $38,995. Garduno listed this same vehicle for sale on Craigslist for $9,000. The victim contacted Garduno and began corresponding via text message about the vehicle. Garduno claimed the Audi dealership was selling the vehicle for him on consignment. Continue reading→
A 20-year-old Santa Ana gangbanger was driving 69 mph in a 30 mph zone today, at 3:07 p.m., at 5th and North Jackson Streets, when an SAPD motorcyle officer tried to pull him over, according to the O.C. Register.
Most folks would pull over – but not this gangbanger. He sped off and led the police on a short car chase.
The suspect eventually became trapped in a neighborhood, so of course he put the car in reverse and tried to run over the motorcycle officer. Continue reading→
Manuel Burciaga, a 42-year-old man sentenced last month to 31 years to life in prison for a gang-related fatal shooting in Santa Ana two decades ago pleaded guilty this Tuesday to triggering the police chase that led him to face justice for the 1993 murder, according to the O.C. Register.
Burciaga admitted to numerous felony charges including evading police, possession of a firearm by a felon, participating in gang activity and possession of a gun in a school zone. His sentence will also be enhanced as he also admitted to allegations of gang activities. he is set to be sentenced on Aug. 18. Continue reading→
