Yet another drive-by shooting happened in Santa Ana early today, just after 2 a.m., at the 4600 block of West Melric Drive, according to the O.C. Register.
Two men and a boy were wounded by the attack, which took place just north of Heritage Elementary School and Heritage Park. Continue reading

Friday, 10/16/2015, at 11:56 am, the victim called the Santa Ana Police Department to report his vehicle had just been stolen. The victim advised officers while inside a store in the 2500 block of South Main Street, he had left his keys, and his 7 month old child, in the vehicle. Continue reading
A driver of a stolen Honda Civic, while attempting to get away from the police this morning, at around 10:45 a.m., led them on a chase in the stolen car then on foot after he crashed the vehicle, near West Alpine Avenue and South Parton Street, according to the O.C. Register.
The incident resulted in a lockout at the nearby MacArthur Fundamental Intermediate School, located at 600 W. Alton Ave. The lockout was lifted at about 11:10 am today. Continue reading

SAPD is searching a residential area near the area of MacArthur Fundamental Intermediate School for a suspect in a crime. As a precaution only, the school has been placed on a Lockout.

On Oct. 15, 2015, at approximately 12:40 a.m., Fountain Valley police officers responded to the 16300 block of Everest Circle, in Fountain Valley (just west of Santa Ana’s Centennial Park and just northeast from Los Amigos High School) regarding a call about fireworks or gunshots in the area. The officers searched the area but it was quiet when they arrived and no evidence of a crime was located.
Approximately forty minutes later the Fountain Valley Police Dispatcher received a call from a local hospital that two gunshot victims had arrived at their emergency room. Continue reading

The Santa Ana Police Department has been awarded a $343,480.00 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) for a year-long program of special enforcement and public awareness efforts to prevent traffic-related deaths and injuries. The Santa Ana Police Department will use the funding as part of the City’s ongoing commitment to keep our roadways safe and improve the quality of life through both enforcement and education.

In fact, traffic safety is a major component of the City’s Strategic Plan and substantial efforts have been made in this area as we engage internal and external stakeholders on this issue. Another day, another gang murder. This time a man was fatally shot in what police are saying was a possibly gang-related attack, at about 7:35 p.m., at the 1700 block of North Spurgeon St., according to the O.C. Register.
The victim was hit in the upper body. Another man who may have been with the victim during the shooting was released after being questioned. He was not shot. Continue reading
What a way to start the week! A man who is suspected of assault with a deadly weapon was reported to be inside of a stolen car at 6:30 a.m. near Bristol Street and Edinger in Santa Ana, but when the SAPD showed up he took off, according to the O.C. Register.
The SAPD reported that the man was driving a green Honda Accord that was also involved in a felony assault with a deadly weapon incident. No further details about the auto theft were made available by the SAPD.
The police pursued the suspect at speeds of up to 90 mph, driving through the cities of Santa Ana, Fountain Valley and Garden Grove. Continue reading
A 65-year-old man was walking in the 100 block of South Clara Street at 11:45 a.m. today when another man approached him and somehow convinced him to get into a waiting vehicle, where a second man was waiting, according to the O.C. Register.
The two men drove their victim to a bank where one of the suspects walked inside, pretending to hold a handgun to the victim’s back. The suspect then compelled the victim to withdraw cash from the bank. Continue reading

On Friday, October 9, 2015 at about 1430 hrs. the Santa Ana Police Department’s Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) will be conducting a training exercise at #4 Hutton Center Dr., a 10-story high rise office building. The property’s management team and security officers will interact with the SWAT Team throughout the exercise. Orange County Fire Authority will also be present and will take part in the exercise. A man was attacked and beaten up by four men during an attempted robbery at the 1600 block of East 4th Street at 8:50 p.m., according to the O.C. Register.
The man was walking home when he was surrounded by the four men, who demanded cash. The victim told them he had no money and they reacted by striking him from behind with what might have been a baseball bat. Then they set upon him, punching him repeatedly before they ran off west on 4th St. Continue reading

On April 21, 2001, Santa Ana Police officers responded to Plumbers Hall, 3904 West 1st Street, regarding a “shots fired” call. The officers located a victim who had been shot, in the abdomen, and critically injured. The victim was transported to the hospital. Continue reading
Two men were arguing at the 1200 block of West Second Street, in Santa Ana, this evening at around 6:55 p.m., when one of them stabbed the other multiple times, according to the O.C. Register.
The stabbing victim was taken to the UCI Medical Center in Orange. While he was in serious condition he is expected to survive. Continue reading

Join the Santa Ana Unified School District, the Orange County Health Care Agency, the Santa Ana School Police and Santa Ana Police Department as they participate in the Annual International Walk to School Day. Students, parents, and community members will take part in this global event to bring awareness to the importance of practicing safe walking, biking, and traffic skills. In addition, participants will review ways to maintain secure routes before, during and after school hours throughout the city of Santa Ana, while promoting physical activity.
Walk to School day will be held throughout the city of Santa Ana; however, a program acknowledging participation throughout the school district will be held at Romero Cruz Elementary School at 8:15 a.m. Students, parents, staff, and friends will walk from surrounding neighborhoods between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 7:55 a.m. which is a perfect opportunity to capture video, photographs and interviews. A gang-related shooting took place on Friday afternoon at about 2:18 p.m. just a few blocks west of Santa Ana, at the 12600 block of Keel Avenue, in Garden Grove, according to the O.C. Register.
The Garden Grove Police Department responded to the shooting, at an apartment complex after a caller told them that two people had been shot. The police officers found the victims in the complex, near the playground. Continue reading
