Police were looking for two people who fled from a stolen gray 1999 Honda Civic after a short pursuit in Santa Ana on Tuesday afternoon. The car was reported stolen, at 1:41 p.m. near Tenth Street and Van Ness Avenue (in Ward 5), according to the O.C. Register.
The car was stolen about two blocks north of Santa Ana’s City Hall and half a mile from the Santa Ana Police Department’s headquarters, according to Google Maps. Continue reading

A woman accidentally put her foot on the gas pedal and plowed into the Mama Franz Bar, located in the 2600 block of West Edinger Avenue near Fairview, in Santa Ana, just before 11 pm, on Friday, Feb. 14, 2015, causing the structure to be red-tagged, according to ABC News.
Once on scene, a preliminary investigation revealed the woman was driving westbound on West Edinger Avenue, when she lost control of her vehicle, and landed on the front deck of the bar, as reported by CBS. Continue reading

SANTA ANA, Calif. – (February 13, 2015) –On Wednesday, February 11, 2015, Sandy Cacero, 24, La Palma and Christopher Herrera, 27, Bell Gardens, were arrested in connection with robbery that occurred in the city of Dana Point. Cacero and Herrera were arrested in the city of La Palma following an investigation immediately following the incident.
On Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at approximately 12:30 a.m., Orange County Sheriff’s investigators began investigating a robbery at the Best Western Hotel located at 34280 Pacific Coast Highway in the city of Dana Point. Investigators suspect Herrera and Cacero arrived at the hotel to meet the victim after corresponding on the website Backpages.com. During the contact at the hotel, Herrera and Cacera physically assaulted, peppered sprayed and robbed the victim of his cash, cellular phone and tablet. Gerald Guy Byrne, 54, is charged with one felony count of murder. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 60 years to life in state prison. Two men stole a white Honda today and when an SAPD police cruiser tried to pull them over, at 9 am, on Dyer Road by the 55 Freeway, after an alarm in the car had been triggered, they got onto the 55 North and began a high-speed getaway that eventually ended up on the South 5 Freeway, where they gott of on the Red Hill Ave. exit in Tustin, according to the O.C. Register.

Juan Carlos Covarrubias, 22, Jordy Roman Martinez, 21, Andrew Gomez Sanchez, 21, all of Anaheim, are each charged with one felony count of conspiracy to commit murder, two felony counts of attempted murder on a peace officer, one felony count of shooting at an occupied motor vehicle, and one felony count of street terrorism, with sentencing enhancements for the vicarious discharge of a firearm by a gang member and criminal street gang activity. A man was stabbed Friday afternoon in Santa Ana, police said. at Fairview and Seventeenth streets in Santa Ana. When the police arrived, they found a man stabbed several times in the upper torso, Sgt. Don Humphrey said, according to the O.C. Register.
For some reason the man did not cooperate with the police. He admitted that someone stabbed him but that was it. He was taken to an unnamed hospital for treatment. Continue reading

On 2-5-2015, SAPD Homicide Detectives arrested Liborio DeLaLuiz Ramos (44) in connection to the death of a 40 year old transgender woman. Details:On January 28, 2015, at 1000 hours, the Orange County Coroner’s Office notified the Santa Ana Police Department, Homicide Section of a suspicious death that occurred on January 22nd. The defendants in these cases approached a woman, whom they believed to be a prostitute, in areas known for prostitution and human trafficking in Orange County or loitered in areas known for prostitution and human trafficking in Orange County. Each of the defendants agreed to engage in commercial sex with a woman and were subsequently arrested by law enforcement.

Santa Ana police are investigating the death of a 40-year-old transgender man who died at 7:06 p.m. on Jan. 21, from complications related to an injection received at a “silicone party” in the city, according to the O.C Register.

TAXI CAB DRIVER TO BE ARRAIGNED FOR HIT-AND-RUN CRASH THAT KILLED PEDESTRIAN IN NEWPORT BEACH
NEWPORT BEACH – A taxi cab driver is scheduled to be arraigned Monday for crashing into a pedestrian, resulting in the victim’s death, and driving away from the scene. Ronald Aviles, 56, San Clemente, is charged with one felony count of hit and run with permanent injury or death. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of four years in state prison. Aviles is out of custody on $50,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned Monday, Feb. 2, 2015, at 8:30 a.m. in Department H-1, Harbor Justice Center, Newport Beach.
At approximately 3:00 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2015, Aviles is accused of driving his taxi van southbound on East Coast Highway. He is accused of crashing into 23-year-old Travis Marton, as the victim was crossing East Coast Highway westbound at the intersection of Newport Coast Drive in Newport Beach. Aviles is accused of unlawfully failing to stop his vehicle and failing to render assistance to the injured victim. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Continue reading
