SANTA ANA, Calif. – The Orange County District Attorney’s Office (OCDA) convicted 14 men in March 2016 and April 2016 of unlawfully engaging in lewd and dissolute conduct in a public place and in a place open to the public and exposed to public view, loitering with the intent to commit prostitution, or agreeing to engage in prostitution. The defendants in these cases approached a woman, whom they believed to be a prostitute, or loitered in areas known for prostitution and human trafficking in Orange County. Each of the defendants below agreed to engage, or loitered with the intent to engage, in commercial sex with a woman and were subsequently arrested by law enforcement. Continue reading

MAN TO BE ARRAIGNED FOR PIMPING AND PANDERING TEEN
SANTA ANA – A man is scheduled to be arraigned today for pimping and pandering a teenager. Rosharn Deon Matta, Los Angeles, 40, is charged with one felony count of pimping and one felony count of pandering. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of six years in state prison. Matta is scheduled to be arraigned this afternoon in Department CJ-1, Central Jail, Santa Ana. Continue reading
Prostitutes say that Santa Ana Pastor Kevin Brown’s TV show was no help to them
Santa Ana Pastor Kevin Brown is in some hot water after the popular Buzzfeed website revealed that a TV show he was participating in that had the goal of coaxing sex workers (prostitutes) out of their lifestyles. The TV show was featured on the A&E Network and was called “8 Minutes.” It has been canceled in the wake of the Buzzfeed article, “Sex Workers Say A&E Show Lied To Them About Providing Resources And Protecting Their Privacy.”
According to his website, “Pastor Kevin is the Senior Pastor of Side-By-Side Church International located in Orange County, California. He is a retired police officer with nearly 30 years of law enforcement experience including work with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, undercover narcotics, parolee apprehension, and thirteen years as a SWAT member. Kevin did not have a Christian background growing up but experienced a “Saul of Tarsus” conversion as a police sergeant in 1991.”

Eight men convicted for soliciting sex from SAPD cops posing as prostitutes

SANTA ANA – Eight men arrested in an undercover sting operation pleaded guilty and were sentenced today for soliciting sex or sex acts from an undercover police officer, whom they believed to be a prostitute. The convicted defendants include: Michael Davis, 36; Heladio Herrera, 21; Silvestre Jacob, 40; Paulino Martinez, 40; Tony Nguyen, 45; Luis Ortiz, 27; Francisco Rios, 33; and Herbert Yoneoka, 68. All of the defendants pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of soliciting another to engage in prostitution. Herrera, Jacob, and Martinez also pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of driving without a license. Continue reading

SANTA ANA – Charges have been filed against two men for pimping and pandering of two female victims, ages 18 and 19 years old, after being stopped by undercover Santa Ana Police Department (SAPD) officers. Raphael Jared Scally, 27, Hesperia, and Darryl Da Keis Gillard, 27, Hemet, are both charged with two felony counts of pimping and two felony counts of pandering with the sentencing enhancement for crime-bail-crime, indicating that the defendants were out of custody on bail for another felony (2010 residential burglary case) at the time of the crime. If convicted, both defendants face a maximum sentence of nine years and four months in state prison. Gillard is out of custody on bail and his arraignment is to be determined. The People will be requesting $250,000 bail at Scally’s arraignment today, Monday, June 17, 2013, in Department CJ-1, Central Jail, Santa Ana. The time is to be determined. Continue reading
SAPD arrests 20 men for trying to hook up with prostitutes on Harbor Blvd.

SAPD ARRESTS 20 MEN FOR ATTEMPTING TO PURCHASE SEX IN ANTI-SEX TRAFFICKING SWEEP
The Santa Ana Police Department arrested 20 men last night in an undercover sting operation targeting suspects attempting to purchase sex in an ongoing anti-sex trafficking enforcement action.
SAPD Vice Detectives in the area of Harbor Boulevard identified and arrested 20 males attempting to purchase sex or sex acts from undercover female officers, whom the suspects believed to be prostitutes. The suspects were cited and released and the 20 cases will be referred to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.

SANTA ANA – Orange County District Attorney (OCDA) Tony Rackauckas announced today at the Victims’ Rights March and Rally a new unit to prosecute Human Exploitation And Trafficking (HEAT) cases. Orange County is a diverse melting-pot with a large ethnic population, multiple tourist attractions, and is surrounded by large, urban counties, which has made it susceptible to human traffickers. Human trafficking cases have recently increased in Orange County, with many cases involving underage victims and/or brothels. The new Unit was created to deal with this increasing problem.
