UPDATED: Reportedly Paul Walters is going to negotiate an exit from Santa Ana’s City Hall and won’t be returning to the SAPD. I am told that he cares too much about the rich history of the SAPD and is afraid that if he returns to there the Council will undermine him and hurt the department. Best of luck to Walters, who deserved better than this, after 42 years of service to the people of Santa Ana.

“The Santa Ana City Council was scheduled to meet Thursday afternoon to discuss the terms of its separation from City Manager Paul Walters, which could include a request for a public hearing on behalf of the fired administrator,” according to the L.A. Times. Continue reading→

Community: OCTA Proposes 2013 Bus Fare Adjustment Community Meetings & Public Hearing

SANTA ANA, CA (September 14, 2012) – The Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) is proposing a bus fare adjustment in 2013 to help offset rising operational costs and dwindling revenue due to high unemployment and slow job recovery. Without an increase in revenue, OCTA may not meet the Transportation Development Act (TDA) mandate that passengers pay at least 20 percent of bus operating costs in order for the operating agency to qualify for sales tax funding. CITY OF SANTA ANA RESCHEDULES PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER CHANGING WARD BOUNDARIES

SANTA ANA, CA (December 1, 2011) – The City of Santa Ana is rescheduling the public hearing proposing to change the City’s Ward boundaries. The public hearing will be held on Monday, December 19, 2011, at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chamber, located at 22 Civic Center Plaza, in which testimony will be received and where any person having an interest in, objection to, or suggestion regarding the making of changes in Ward boundary lines may appear before the City Council. City of Santa Ana conducting a water rate increase public hearing on June 7

As we predicted in a recent post, Santa Ana water rates are going up again.

The City of Santa Ana mailed letters to local residents this week regarding the increase. Click here to read the letter.

They are holding a public hearing on June 7, at 6 pm, at the Santa Ana City Council Chambers, to allow us to comment.

They claim the increase is to repair, maintain and replace water and sewer infrastructure. My sources say this is a lie. They are shifting money from the water budget to the general fund. And the mains they are damaging are being damaged due to water pressure changes brought on by the fact that the City is relying on computers to maintain water pressure, instead of trained operators.
