On Monday, March 20 at about 7:30 p.m., SAPD police officers were dispatched to 627 E. Pine Street reference calls of a shooting and multiple shots being heard. Four more shootings were reported in Santa Ana over the weekend
On Saturday, March 11 at about 9 p.m. SAPD police officers responded to the area of 215 South Hickory after reports of a shooting. When they arrived they located a vehicle struck by gunfire, according to SAPD Case # 17-06591.
This shooting occurred northwest of Roosevelt Elementary School in Santa Ana’s Ward 2, which is represented by Mayor Pro Tem Michele Martinez. Continue reading
A man was killed in a gang-related shooting near Roosevelt Elementary on Sunday night
SAPD police officers responded to yet another a call regarding a male who was shot on Sunday at 10:40 p.m., at the 600 Block of East Pine St., in Santa Ana. A caller had reported the shooting occurred in the alley at that address, according to SAPD Case #: 1704066.
Police officers found one male adult victim with a single gunshot to the upper torso. Orange County Fire Authority responded and pronounced the male deceased at 10:55 PM. Continue reading
Groundbreaking at the new Roosevelt and Walker elementary schools’ Community Center set for 12/16
SAUSD and the City of Santa Ana are partnering on another joint-use project that will benefit students attending Roosevelt and Walker elementary schools and Santa Ana community members.
With an anticipated completion date of December 2017, a new Community Center will be built on the corner of Standard and Chestnut Avenue with easy access from both schools. It will have a total of 8 joint-use classrooms and other program areas that will be jointly shared by the School and the City. Continue reading
Man robbed early this morning while in his car near Roosevelt and Walker Elementary Schools
The New Year is barely underway and already we have an armed robbery to report here in Santa Ana. The victim was sitting in his car early this morning when he was robbed by two armed suspects, according to the O.C. Register.
SAPD police officers got a call about the incident just after 6 a.m. today. The robbery happened at the 900 block of East Pine Street. Continue reading
Two young men shot in broad daylight in Councilwoman Martinez’ Ward
Two men, both 18, were shot in the upper torso, on Friday in Santa Ana, at around 12:45 p.m. in the 700 block of East Chestnut Avenue, according to the O.C. Register. The men were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, and they are expected to survive, Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said.
The shooting happened on the north side of the campus of Roosevelt Elementary School. It is highly disturbing that the incident occurred at mid-day. The area in question is in Councilwoman Michele Martinez’ Ward 2. She has previously admitted to selling drugs when she was a teenager and the local law enforcement associations opposed her reelection campaign this year. Continue reading

Are you ready for a free MMA-inspired clinic, right here in Santa Ana?
Fighting for Fitness is an Orange County-based 501c(3) non-profit organization which is hosting a free MMA-inspired fitness clinic for children ages seven to 17 at Roosevelt Elementary School in Santa Ana. The event is open to the public and takes place Sunday, March 25. Registration is 11-12 p.m., clinic 12-1 p.m., and refreshments 1-2 p.m.
