Advisory: SAPD Detectives Requesting Media And Public’s Assistance In Locating Wanted Burglary Suspect

Wanted: Albert Sierra (32) Transient, Male Hispanic, 5-6/180/Black Hair/Brown Eyes.

Santa Ana Police Detectives are asking for assistance in locating Albert Sierra (32) who is suspected of twice burglarizing the Mexican Consulate at 2100 East 4th Street, in Santa Ana.

Sierra smashed a glass door and entered the Mexican Consulate building during the night hours on September 17th, 2016. The released video surveillance shows Sierra, previously breaking into the Mexican Consulate on July 10th 2016. Sierra stole office equipment, money from the Consulate and several Red Cross donation containers placed inside the location. Continue reading→

Jessica B. Cha is our choice for the Santa Ana City Council’s Ward 1

It is very difficult to beat incumbents in Santa Ana however local family law attorney Jessica B. Cha is giving it a go. She has filed to run against Santa Ana Mayor Pro Tem Vince Sarmiento in the upcoming November General Election, in Santa Ana’s Ward 1.

Cha’s parents came to the U.S. from South Korea in 1975. They have very little to their name and, like many Santa Ana residents, had to learn English. Cha’s mother eventually worked full-time as a registered nurse. Cha remembers fondly that her mom always picked her up from school and never missed any of her school functions. Her mom also took care not only of Cha and her sister but also their grandfather, who lived with them. Continue reading→

Mayor Miguel Pulido and Councilwoman Michele Martinez will present, posthumously, the Exceptional Citizen Award to Reverend Lewis Whitehead, founder and former director of the Orange County Rescue Mission whom provided over 25 years of outstanding services, community leadership and many contributions to the City of Santa Ana, at tomorrow’s City Council Meeting.

Before making it his life’s goal to help homeless individuals, Reverend Lewis Whitehead served 20 years in the Marine Corps, then became a member of the First Baptist Church in Santa Ana and was ordained as a minister in 1962, ministering to the poor. From then on he pledged his life to serve the least, the last, and the lost. Often, he would go under freeway overpasses to give homeless individuals blankets, food, prayer and love. Woman from Orange arrested in Santa Ana after a police chase began in Tustin

Yet another police chase ended in Santa Ana on Sunday when a 35-year-old woman from Orange was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and evading police officers after leading police on a 50-minute chase along two Orange County freeways, according to the O.C. Register.

The woman refused to pull over when a Tustin police officer asked her to, at about 10:39 p.m., at Red Hill Ave. and El Camino Real, according to the Tustin Police. Continue reading→

Suspect stole a car in Newport Beach then was caught after fleeing from the SAPD

A car reported stolen in Newport Beach turned up in Santa Ana this Saturday evening. SAPD police tried to pull over the suspected car thief at at 8:55 p.m. at Grand Avenue and 1st Street, but as is usually the case in these incidents the suspect sped off, according to the O.C. Register.

Police ended up pursuing the suspect for five miles and were assisted by the O.C. Sheriff’s helicopter. Continue reading→

Neighborhood Hero Joshua Mauras is now running for the Santa Ana City Council’s Ward 3

There are quite a few candidates running for Santa Ana’s Ward 3 this November. One of them, Joshua Mauras, recently launched his campaign website.

Mauras played football at Chapman University and he earned a law degree from the Chapman University School of Law. He and his wife are raising their family in Santa Ana’s Morrison Park Neighborhood. They have served on their Neighborhood Association’s welcoming committee, multiple event planning committees, and act as the Morrison Park liasons to the City. A man was shot in the head near Fitz Intermediate School today

There was another shooting in Santa Ana today, shortly after 4:30 p.m., and this time I have a feeling that the SAPD will be recording the incident as a male victim was shot in the head, according to SAPD Case Number 16-24749.

Multiple shots were fired at 800 N. Figueroa Street on Saturday night

Last night at about 11:25 p.m. SAPD police officers were in the area of 800 N. Harbor Blvd. when they heard 6-8 gunshots fired immediately east of their location, per SAPD Case Number 16-24695.

The police officers responded to 800 N. Figueroa Street and located 8 .45 caliber casings in the street and on the sidewalk. They also located one live .38 caliber round. One vehicle was struck. No homes or people were struck. There are no suspects or witnesses at this time. Continue reading→

Suspected car thief arrested after a police pursuit that started near Fairview and Trask

Police arrested an unknown man after chasing a stolen vehicle through the city on Saturday afternoon, according to the O.C. Register.

The Santa Ana Police Department received a call from the car’s owner at 3:53 p.m. today. The owner had spotted a suspect driving his stolen car near Fairview Street and Trask Avenue, according to the SAPD. Continue reading→

Salvation Army to Celebrate the Grand Opening of their Hospitality House

Mayor Miguel Pulido is pleased to join The Salvation Army in celebrating the grand opening of the newly remodeled emergency men’s homeless shelter, Hospitality House, on Monday, November 21, 2016 at 10:00 a.m.

Located at 818 East Third Street in Santa Ana, the shelter has been expanded to hold 75 beds and will include updated amenities, meeting rooms and new administration space for social service programs. The Hospitality House is the only year-round men’s homeless shelter in Orange County. Last year, 224 Hospitality House clients entered the Salvation Army’s assistance programs and averaged an 80 percent achievement rate on their goals including vocational training and finding stable housing. One teen was shot dead and another was wounded on Friday night on S. Birch St.

Another violent week in Santa Ana ended with a dead teen and another wounded teen, when they were shot by suspected gangbangers at the 400 block of South Birch Street on Friday night, according to the O.C. Register.

SAPD police officers responded to the scene, at about 9:30 p.m, when they received a call about shots fired. They found evidence of a shooting but at the time did not find the victims. Continue reading→

MAN SENTENCED TO LIFE IN PRISON WITHOUT PAROLE FOR FORCIBLY RAPING PRETEEN GIRL RESULTING IN PREGNANCY

*First sexual assault case in Orange County to receive a sentence of life in state prison without parole

SANTA ANA, Calif. – A man was sentenced today to life in state prison without parole for forcibly raping a preteen girl resulting in pregnancy. Demetrio Rojas Perez, 40, Santa Ana, was found guilty by a jury on June 27, 2016, of four felony counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child under 14 and one felony count of forcible lewd acts on a child under 14. Sentencing enhancement allegations for inflicting bodily harm on a victim under 14 years of age and personally inflicting great bodily injury during the commission of the above offenses were found to be true. For the first time in an Orange County sexual assault case, Perez was sentenced to life in state prison without the possibility of parole, plus 60 years to life in state prison. Continue reading→
