Today at 4 p.m. at Bowers Museum in Santa Ana, David Valentin is sworn in as the 21st Chief of Police for the Santa Ana Police Department. “He is the first Santa Ana Police Chief to be raised in the City and is also a product of the public Santa Ana Unified School District and Santa Ana College. David Valentin is the best selection for Chief of Police in Santa Ana,” said Mayor Pulido

Chief Valentin joined the Santa Ana Police Department in 1990 and has worked his way through the ranks from Police Officer to Chief of Police. “Chief Valentin was appointed Acting Chief of Police on June 20, 2017 and confirmed as the permanent Police Chief on February 20, 2018, unanimously by the Santa Ana City Council. His leadership will produce several new and positive approaches in the community,” said Councilmember Tinajero, Chair of the Public Safety, Code Enforcement and Neighborhood Empowerment Council Committee. An SAPD K9 police dog helped to arrest a man who fled from Deputies in San Clemente today

Are you wondering why so many police were swarming a Santa Ana neighborhood not far from Adams Elementary School this afternoon? It was because an unidentified white male suspect in his 30’s who ended up barricaded in a home in that neighborhood after a police pursuit that began in San Clemente, according to the O.C. Register.

Authorities said a chase started in the area of El Portal and North El Camino Real in San Clemente, San Clemente with the suspect who was pulled over by an O.C. Sheriff’s Deputy as he was riding a motorcycle that turned out to be stolen, according to KTLA News. Continue reading→

Santa Ana heroin addict gets only 6 years in jail after multiple assaults and robberies

Hector Maldonado Ibarra, a 30-year-old Santa Ana man, plead guilty on Monday to five theft cases involving stealing from stores – including the pistol whipping of one victim, according to the O.C. Register.

Two dead bodies were found at a home in unincorporated Santa Ana this afternoon

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department is investigating after two bodies were found in a residence in unincorporated Santa Ana on Monday afternoon, at about 3 p.m., according to the O.C. Register.

Suspect: Rafael Rodriguez Jr. (20) Bellflower

After releasing this story to the media and public on February 14, 2018, SAPD Robbery detectives received numerous tips leading to the identity of the suspect in this case. The suspect was identified as Rafael Rodriguez Jr. residing in the City of Bellflower.

With the assistance of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Criminal Apprehension Team the suspect was arrested at his residence in the City of Bellflower. SAPD detectives obtained a search warrant for the suspect’s house and located evidence linking him to this crime. Continue reading→

The OC Health Care Agency has released a list of the eateries they inspected and shut down for the week of Feb. 23 – March 2. Most of these eateries reopen pretty quickly after the health inspectors determine their issues have been resolved. Here is the list:

  • Friendly’s Market, 910 W. Myrtle St., Santa Ana; rodent infestation; closed Feb. 28.
  • Pollo Ranchero, 1227 W. First St., Santa Ana; rodent infestation; closed Feb. 28, reopened Feb. 28.
  • Mariscos Los Corales #2, 2629 Westminster Ave., Santa Ana; insufficient hot water; closed Feb. 28, reopened March 1.

A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and badly injured yesterday afternoon in Santa Ana

An unidentified male pedestrian was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries Saturday night after being struck by a car in Santa Ana earlier yesterday afternoon, according to the O.C. Register.

For over 200 years, Santa Ana has had a rich art and cultural presence in our region. Our city has always been a place of intersections, where cultural diversity dwells amidst historic beauty. For the funding cycle of 2018-2019, the City of Santa Ana has allocated $70,000 and invites artists and art organizations/cooperatives to dive into our local history, showcase our diverse residents, highlight our architecture, and explore our natural beauty to celebrate the local community in a variety of mediums: Visual Arts, Music, Theater, Writing, Poetry, Music, Dance, Fashion, and Culinary.

Garden Grove Police investigators shot and killed an unidentified 31-year-old man last night at a 7-Eleven parking lot in Santa Ana, at 1700 E. Dyer Road, according to the SAPD.
