SAPD police officers are working a fatal vehicle vs pedestrian collision this morning at First Street & Bristol Street, according to the SAPD’s Facebook page.

The OC Health Care Agency has released a list of the eateries they inspected and shut down for the week of Jan. 26-Feb. 2. Most of these eateries reopen pretty quickly after the health inspectors determine their issues have been resolved. Here is the list:

SANTA ANA POLICE STEP UP DUI ENFORCEMENT
The SAPD will be conducting a DUI/Driver’s License checkpoint on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018 from 9:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. at 2400 W. 5th St.
The primary purpose of a DUI Checkpoint is to deter impaired driving, not to increase arrests. All too often, members of our community are senselessly injured or killed on local roadways by impaired drivers. This DUI / Driver’s License checkpoint is an effort to reduce those tragedies, as well as ensuring drivers have a valid driver’s license. The DMV reports that unlicensed drivers are 4.9 times more likely to cause a fatal crash than a licensed driver. Continue reading

Charges: One count of Attempted Murder, Multiple counts of Assault with a Deadly Weapon
Santa Ana PD Homicide Detectives obtained information that suspect Jose Luis Trujillo was at a residence in the City of Garden Grove. Based on the violent nature of suspect Trujillo’s crime, SAPD SWAT was called upon to serve the arrest warrant for the attempted murder and multiple counts of assault with a deadly weapon. TUSD Accepting Student Transfer Requests for 2018-19 School Year
The Tustin Unified School District will accept transfer requests between Monday, January 22, at 8 a.m. and Friday, February 9, at 3 p.m. from elementary, middle and high school students for the 2018-19 school year.
Transfer requests can be made online from the TUSD website or on paper at TUSD’s Student Services Office. All applications submitted during the transfer period will be processed according to a random and unbiased process based on space availability. SANTA ANA – From blacksmiths to brew masters, car designers, sculptors, architects and even a Steampunk artist, Santa Ana’s industrial artists and craftsmen are gathering on the evening of February 9th, 4-8 pm for a Santa Ana Industrial Arts Roundtable at the Heritage Museum of Orange County showing that Santa Ana is still a hub where Orange County designs and builds things.
“Santa Ana industrial artists are designing the boxes shipped to you every day of the week, the design of the cars you drive, the lighting systems that you use and the technology you buy,” said event initiator Madeleine Spencer, Executive Director of Santa Ana Business Council, “It’s time to recognize the amazing craftsmen who are still designing and making things right here at home.” The Santa Ana Industrial Arts Roundtable will feature some fiery blacksmith demonstrations by the OC Blacksmith Guild, OC Brewers Guild tastings from Santa Ana craft breweries, with presentations and exhibits spanning fashion, film, photography and automotive design. Robert Weirick, a 35-year-old man, was arrested at a storage facility on Wednesday morning, Jan. 31, on suspicion of stealing a $10,000 bicycle and a car – which, officials said, he used to ram two police vehicles, according to the O.C. Register.
Weirick drew the attention of the Irvine Police Department when he allegedly stole a high-end bicycle. The Irvine Police got a tip on Wednesday morning that Weirick was in a stolen vehicle. Continue reading

A fire broke out this afternoon in Santa Ana at a house located at the 2900 block of McFadden Ave., at about 1:30 p.m., according to the OC Register.
