Felix Martinez Vargas, a 20-year-old Santa Ana man, is facing a murder charge that was filed on Tuesday, in which he is accused of shooting Mariano Labra Ramos, a 36-year-old Santa Ana man, to death outside of his apartment complex last week, according to the O.C. Register.
Prosecutors are also tacking on a sentence-enhancement charge against Vargas because he is an alleged gangbanger who caused great bodily harm while vicariously discharging a firearm. Continue reading→

In July, the Santa Ana City Council approved a $510.7 million budget packed with add-ons and reliant on one-time funding. The following month its members approved the first city-wide project labor agreement in Orange County, a union giveaway expected to add millions of dollars in avoidable costs to city multi-trade construction and specialty contracts. The Santa Ana Public Library is one of 28 libraries nationally to receive a grant from Libraries Ready to Code, an initiative of the American Library Association sponsored by Google, promoting early development of Computer Science (CS) and Computational Thinking (CT) skills in young people around the globe!

Advisory: SAPD Detectives Investigating Homicide – 1900 Block West Myrtle -Four Suspects In Custody
Victim: Mariano Labra Ramos (36) Santa Ana
On 12-1-17 at approximately 1:28 p.m. the Santa Ana Police Department received reports of a man down in the alley behind 1909 W. Myrtle Street. Officers arrived and found Mariano Labra Ramos, a 36 year-old male victim of a gunshot wound. OCFA personnel arrived and transported the victim to a local trauma center for treatment. Joseph Margo, a 49-year-old man, pleaded guilty Thursday and was immediately sentenced to 50 years in prison for sexually assaulting two girls in Santa Ana, beginning when they were 8 years old and continuing until they were 13, according to the O.C. Register.
Margo was originally facing eight additional felony counts of sex crimes. However those charges were dismissed by the prosecutors when Margo accepted a plea deal. He ended up pleading guilty to rape, sodomy of a minor, forcible oral copulation of a minor and continuous sexual abuse of a child. Continue reading→
OCTA Awards Santa Ana High School for Active Transportation Art Contest
Seven schools participated in the chalk art contest to help promote walking and bicycling
ORANGE – Santa Ana Valley High School is one of two winners countywide in the Orange County Transportation Authority’s Chalk, Walk and Roll contest promoting the benefits of active transportation, such as walking and bicycling.
Students at Santa Ana Valley were among seven finalists who submitted artwork from their campus. Their winning chalk drawing shows a skateboarder with the head of a falcon – the school’s mascot – appearing to break through the sidewalk.
Four high schools and three middle schools from around the county submitted chalk art related to active transportation during the contest from Oct. 2 to Nov. 6. All of the artwork was featured on the OC Active Facebook page and the winners were determined by which received the most likes on the page. Continue reading→

Synopsis: On 05/21/2017, at 3:34 a.m. , a 25 year-old victim was walking northbound on Broadway Street where she was pulled down the stairwell to the Copper Door and was sexually assaulted. A shooting happened today, at 1 p.m., near Centennial Regional Park, where Godinez Fundamental High School and the Santa Ana College Centennial Education Center are located, by Fairview St. and Edinger Ave., according to the O.C. Register.
