Santa Ana Police Department Advisory: Mother arrested for Willful Cruelty to a Child
On Thursday, July 18, 2013, at approximately 1140 hrs, officers were sent to the 700 block S. Lyon St reference to a welfare check on a child found in the courtyard of the apartment complex. Once officers arrived at the scene they located a 10 year child lying on the ground and noticed that he had a long aluminum chain wrapped approximately 4-5 times around both his ankles and a black, metal “Master Lock” padlock affixed to the chain and locked. SANTA ANA – A man was convicted and sentenced today to eight years in state prison for pandering a 16-year-old girl and an adult woman. Quandre Charles, 39, Merced, pleaded guilty to two felony counts of pandering by procuring and one felony count of sale of a person for immoral purposes. Continue reading
SAPD Advisory: Antonia Benitez facing 3 counts of felony child abuse
On 6/3/2013 26 year old Antonia Benitez, of Santa Ana dropped off her 4 year old daughter at a local hospital suffering from open wounds and malnutrition. The 4 year old weighed only 18 lbs.

SAPD DUI Checkpoint set for Friday, July 19
SANTA ANA POLICE STEP UP DUI ENFORCEMENT
In a cooperative effort with the California Highway Patrol, the Santa Ana Police Department will be conducting a DUI/Drivers License checkpoint on Friday, July 19th, 2013. It will begin at 8:30PM and is scheduled to conclude at 2:00AM. It will be conducted in the area of 1500 E. McFadden Avenue, Santa Ana, CA.

SANTA ANA – Eight men arrested in an undercover sting operation pleaded guilty and were sentenced today for soliciting sex or sex acts from an undercover police officer, whom they believed to be a prostitute. The convicted defendants include: Michael Davis, 36; Heladio Herrera, 21; Silvestre Jacob, 40; Paulino Martinez, 40; Tony Nguyen, 45; Luis Ortiz, 27; Francisco Rios, 33; and Herbert Yoneoka, 68. All of the defendants pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of soliciting another to engage in prostitution. Herrera, Jacob, and Martinez also pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of driving without a license. Continue reading

Wow! There were 28 crimes reported in Santa Ana on Saturday, July 13, 2013, according to our friends at CrimeMapping. The crimes included four DUIs and numerous acts of Domestic Violence. You have to wonder why our City Council has done almost nothing with regard to stopping Domestic Violence and it is dismaying that Councilman David Benavides is trying to keep the bars open until 4 am.
