Yesterday, on January 3, at about 8:30 p.m. a resident reported to the SAPD that he saw the driver of a vehicle shoot multiple times at a male Hispanic walking near the corner of Washington and Ross Streets, according to SAPD case number: 17-00252.

Malcolm May Suspect in beating of Lyft driver
After we reported yesterday that a man had attacked a female Lyft driver at a Santa Ana Arco gas station, beating her so brutally that she lost a tooth, one of our readers gave us a tip as to the suspect’s identity. Our reader identified the attacker as Malcolm May, a 47-year old Santa Ana resident.
We passed along our reader’s tip to a neighborhood leader who gave the info to the SAPD this morning. The SAPD arrested May after receiving the tip. He was booked on robbery and assault with a deadly weapon charges, according to ABC. Continue reading
A female Lyft driver was violently attacked over a parking spot in Santa Ana and the onslaught was captured on camera, at the Arco gas station located near the intersection of Main Street and MacArthur Boulevard at about 11 a.m. on Friday, according to ABC News.
The incident began with an argument over a parking space. The victim, Terri, told ABC News that she was confronted by a man who complained about how she had parked at the gas station. Continue reading
A Lola Gaspar Bartender
An unidentified woman was burned at the Lola Gaspar restaurant located at 211 West 2nd St. in DTSA shortly after midnight on New Year’s Eve after a bartender lit liquor on fire, according to the O.C. Register.
Authorities said a bartender poured alcohol onto the bar at Lola Gaspar and lit it on fire, according to ABC News. Somehow the woman’s hair and face caught fire, just after midnight, according to the SAPD. Continue reading
Santa Ana Police Dept. to start a Customer Service Survey in 2017
Starting January 2017, the Santa Ana Police Dept. (SAPD) will start a random survey to improve customer service within the Department. On average, the SAPD receives over 10,000 Calls for Service a month. Every month, anyone who places a Call for Service with the SAPD may be selected to participate in the random survey.

Advisory: Detectives Request Media And Publics Assistance Identifying Sexual Assault Suspect
On 12/27/2016, at about 10:46 pm, an adult female was parking her vehicle in the 1600 Block of South Pacific Avenue in Santa Ana, when she was approached by a suspect. The suspect opened the driver’s side vehicle door at which time he entered the vehicle and pulled down his pants, exposing himself to her.
The suspect pushed himself on top of the victim and attempted to sexually assault her. The victim screamed and kicked violently, forcing the suspect off of her and out of the vehicle. The suspect fled on foot west on Occidental Street. The victim and a witness provided the above descriptions to a sketch artist. Continue reading
Yet another stabbing has occurred in Santa Ana, this time in DTSA as a 27-year old man was leaving the Proof Bar, at 300 North Broadway, where he had been drinking with his friends, according to the SAPD, Case Number 16-34291.
The attack happened at 12:17 a.m. this morning when the man in question stole a helmet from a motorcycle that was parked in front of Proof. The owner of the helmet and 6-7 of his friends immediately chased down the man and then assaulted him. One of the attackers, a male Hispanic in his 30s who was wearing a leather jacket, then stabbed the man twice in his abdomen. Continue reading
The year 2016 cannot end soon enough! A violent year in Santa Ana was capped on Thursday night by a visit by the O.C. Sheriff’s Department bomb squad to a Santa Ana home after a 61-year old man, Nong Nguyen, was found in a bedroom that may have been booby trapped with improvised explosive devices, according to the O.C. Register.
Nguyen lived at the 2200 block of North Jetty Street. His family got worried when he failed to answer a knock on his bedroom door just before 8 p.m., according to the SAPD. Continue reading
There was a homicide tonight in Santa Ana at 3802 S. Flower Street, according to SAPD Case number 16-34273.
SAPD police responded to the scene at about 8 p.m. after receiving a call about a fight. When the police officers arrived they found Gregorio Rojas Magdaleno, a 41-year old male, with a stab wound to his neck. Continue reading

Advisory: Crime Alert -Extortion And Kidnapping Scam
The Santa Ana Police Department is investigating an extortion scam in which the suspect(s) claim to have kidnapped a victim’s family members. On 12/29/16, the victim received a telephone call from an unknown male that claimed to have kidnapped the victim’s daughter. The victim heard a female voice in the background which she believed was her daughter’s. The suspect demanded a $500 ransom from the victim before they would release her daughter. Out of concern for her daughter’s safety, the victim remained on the call with the suspect while she responded to a local wire transfer business where she electronically transferred the funds to the suspect(s). Santa Ana is ending the year with a violent bang. This morning at about 4 a.m. a 55-year old man who was delivering newspapers noticed that he was being followed by another vehicle. The victim pulled over to the side of the road at 1700 West Occidental and then the occupant of the suspect vehicle fired a gun at him multiple times, hitting him once in his upper body, according to SAPD Case number 16-33963.

An unidentified pedestrian in his 50s is in critical condition at a local hospital after he was hit by two cars Friday evening, one of which fled, at Euclid Street and Hazard Ave., in Santa Ana, last night at around 9:50 p.m., according to the O.C. Register.
The victim was hit by a silver car that kept on going and while he was on the ground he was run over by a Honda, according to the SAPD. Continue reading

On 12/17/2016 at approximately 0200 hours and at 0400 hours, the suspect entered the Chevron Gas station and later a 7-Eleven business, carrying an “assault-style rifle.” The suspect used the rifle during the robberies as he demanded money from the clerk at each location. Continue reading
