Arrested: Oscar Freddie Torres (19) Santa Ana

On Saturday, August 13, 2016, at 4:43 PM, SAPD Officers responded to a family disturbance on the 400 block of South Hesperian Street. As the Officers arrived near the scene of the call, they encountered a Hispanic male armed with a pistol. The suspect fired the pistol multiple times in the direction of the officers. Two more shootings in Santa Ana including one this evening

There was a shooting in Santa Ana last night at 2500 West Borchard, at about 8PM.

An adult male victim was driving and making a turning movement in front of his house when the suspect vehicle almost collided with him. The victim apologized and the suspect stopped his vehicle and a passenger exited and fired a gun at the victim. The victim’s car was hit and fortunately, the victim was not injured. Man who stabbed a concert-goer at Underground DTSA to be tried for murder

Juan Angel Rivera, a 22-year-old man, can face trial for stabbing a fellow concert-goer to death during a punk show at Underground DTSA , a downtown Santa Ana club, a judge ruled Wednesday, according to the O.C. Register.

Prosecutors are also going to pursue a murder charge against Rivera  in connection to the fatal March 3 fight  involving Rivera and Nathan Joe Alfaro inside the club. Continue reading→

On 08/10/2016 SAPD Detectives were contacted by a medical rehabilitation center in Garden Grove in response to our Silver Alert. Suspect in Circle K stabbing-murder arrested in Long Beach

Advisory: SAPD – August 7th, 2016 Homicide Suspect Taken Into Custody By Long Beach PD

Victim/Deceased: Jason Paul Torres (40) Costa Mesa

Suspect: Logan James Cunningham (27) Long Beach

Charge: PC 187(a) – Homicide, Bail: $1,000,000
Details: On Sunday, August 7, 2016, at 9:07 pm, SAPD Officers responded to a report of a stabbing near the Circle K convenience store at 710 East Dyer Road. The officers found an adult male stabbing victim and a nearby crime scene. The victim later identified as Jason Paul Torres was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The SAPD Homicide Detectives responded to the scene and took over the investigation. During their investigation, Detectives identified Logan James Cunningham (27) as the suspect in this homicide. Continue reading→

SANTA ANA, Calif. – Local high school students will have the opportunity this week to get a behind-the-scenes look at what it’s like to be a prosecutor, defense attorney, police detective, and judge during the 17th annual Summer Youth Education Conference. This weeklong program began today and will include 35 to 40 hours of hands-on activities, culminating in a mock trial and a graduation ceremony on Friday, Aug. 12, 2016.

“This program is a great way for young people in our community to learn about the criminal justice system,” said District Attorney Tony Rackauckas. “Some of these students will one day serve our community as the next generation of prosecutors, police officers, and judges.” Continue reading→

Man stabbed by two gang members near Lowell Elementary School

A 38-year-old victim was attacked by two suspects yesterday at the area of 1030 W. Bishop in Santa Ana.  The suspects attacked the victim by striking him with a 2′ x 4′ on the head and stabbing him, on Sunday , 8/7/16, at approximately 11 p.m.

The victim is in stable condition and expected to recover. The suspects are possibly members from the a local criminal street gang.  Continue reading→

Man stabbed to death at a Circle K store in Santa Ana

There was yet another homicide in Santa Ana last night, at approximately 9 p.m., at the Circle K store located at 710 East Dyer.

SAPD police officers were dispatched to a stabbing at that Circle K Store at 710 East Dyer. The victim was located and transported by OCFA to a local hospital suffering from serious stab wounds. The victim did not survive.  Continue reading→

SANTA ANA, Calif. – A speeding driver was convicted yesterday and sentenced to 11 years in state prison for killing two people by crashing into their car after driving through a stop sign in Santa Ana. Jorge Ocampo, 24, Santa Ana, pleaded guilty yesterday, Aug. 4, 2016, to two felony counts of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence, one felony count of hit and run with permanent injury or death, one misdemeanor count of driving without a valid license, and admitted to fleeing the scene after committing vehicular manslaughter. Man shot at a female victim last night near Carr Intermediate School

SAPD police officers responded to the area of 2000 West Elder Ave., in Santa Ana, on a report of a shooting that had occurred shortly after midnight.

A female victim was located who said she was driving on Elder Street when a suspect exited his vehicle, in the middle of the street, and fired multiple times at her car. Thankfully the victim was not struck by the gunfire. Continue reading→

Man shot by a gangbanger near Lathrop Intermediate School

A man was shot last night after 10 p.m. when  he was sweeping a business parking lot in the 1100 block of South Main Street. He was confronted by a suspect who attempted to steal the victim’s bike and during the altercation, the victim was shot twice to the upper torso.

Top top it all off, during the incident the suspect declared his gang affiliation! The victim was transported to a local hospital for his injuries. Continue reading→

Orange County Sheriff Sandra Hutchens will be speaking at the West Floral Park Neighborhood Association on August 10, 2016, at 7 p.m., at Santiago Elementary School, in Room 51, which is behind the main office. Santiago Elementary is located at 2212 N. Baker St., in Santa Ana.

One question that might be posed to Sheriff Hutchens is whether or not her agency may take over security at the Plaza of the Flags, in the wake of the shooting of an unarmed homeless man by an SAPD police officer. Continue reading→
