SAPD police officers were called to the 400 block of Eastwood Ave. today at about 3:10 p.m. after a report of a home burglary at the 400 block of Eastwood Avenue, with multiple suspects, according to the O.C. Register. Continue reading
Robert Joseph Price, 55, Garden Grove, is on trial this week for shooting and killing his neighbor, 53-year-old Glen Berry. Remarkably this act of violence was initiated when Berry was upset at the commotion that Price was making as he was lighting fireworks in his backyard, according to the OCDA.
At the time of the crime, Price is accused of having an ongoing dispute with his neighbor, Berry. That dispute peaked at approximately 1:00 a.m. on June 21, 2013, when Berry walked to the defendant’s home and knocked on the security screen on the defendant’s door, to complain about the noise that Price and his fireworks were making. Price and Berry shared a back fence.
Unfortunately for Berry, Price allegedly opened his front door and shot Berry in the face, with a .44-caliber handgun, through the closed security screen door. Continue reading
The gang violence in our city reached a new peak today as a Santa Ana police officer was injured and one suspect was hit by gunfire, according to the O.C. Register.
SAPD police officers showed up at the 2700 block of McFadden Ave. at 3:28 p.m., in response to a call about a shooting. The police closed off part of McFadden Avenue and Sullivan Street during their investigation.

Advisory: SAPD Detectives Investigating Shooting Death of 24 Year Man
Victim: Francisco Sotelo Gonzalez (24) Santa Ana
On February 16, 2016, at about 6:45pm, officers responded to the 1100 block of South Harmon Street reference a call of a person shot. When officers arrived they located a male Hispanic, 24 years of age, suffering from a gunshot wound to the body.
The victim was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injury. Continue reading
A young man was shot in his upper body early this morning, before 4 a.m.,at the 10600 block of Tibbs Circle, in Garden Grove, in what police are calling a gang-related attack, according to the O.C. Register.
The person who called 911 reported that the victim had been shot and was “screaming for help.” Continue reading
We reported last night about a drive by shooting that wounded a man in his 20s at the 1000 block of North Parton. Our readers indicated that there was a second man injured as well. Today we know the details about that second victim.
It turns out the second man was shot by an SAPD police officer, according to the O.C. Register. The police have not indicated yet if the second shooting was related to the first one. Continue reading
A man in his early 20s was shot in the upper body tonight at around 7:20 p.m. at the 1000 block of North Parton St., according to the O.C. Register.
Igmar Rodas, a local community activist and photographer, told us that this was a drive-by shooting. He also reported that two suspects are in custody. Witnesses he spoke to said that there was a second victim that was seen laying on the street.
The SAPD did not report any details. SAPD police officers were only told that people had heard shots in their neighborhood. Continue reading

The SAPD is finally acknowledging the increase in shootings, mostly gang-related, in Santa Ana since New Year’s Day. There have been 16 shootings since Jan. 1, according to the O.C. Register. Fortunately only one shooting has proved fatal.
There were two new shootings in the past day. One took place at around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday as two men were arguing outside a home at the 1300 block of West 3rd, near Lydia Romero-Cruz Elementary School, according to a witness who spoke to the police. Continue reading
One of our readers has reported a shooting today, just after 1 p.m., at Broadway and Pine in Santa Ana. That area is just east of Santa Ana High School. There are several SAPD units there apparently looking for suspects as seen in the picture below.
Another shooting was reported late last night at McFadden and Standard, just west of Kennedy Elementary School. A truck was reportedly hit by the bullets. The media did not report that shooting or the one today at Broadway and Pine.

Yet another gang shooting took place very early this morning, at around 12:30 a.m., at the 3400 block of West Chestnut Ave., in Santa Ana, just west of Santa Anita Park. The good news is that the SAPD have arrested two known gang members in the wake of the shooting, according to the O.C. Register.
The SAPD was assisted by the O.C. Sheriff’s helicopter, “Duke” and it was Duke’s crew that spotted a suspect, who was later identified as Jesse Garcia Isais, 41-years-old, as he was walking away from the area of South Jackson Street and Pine Ave., one block away from the shooting at the Chestnut Ave. address. A man was injured today in what the SAPD is calling a gang-related shooting while he was driving at the 2800 block of West Edinger Ave., near Centennial Regional Park, according to the O.C. Register.

The media is reporting that shots were fired at the Westfield MainPlace Mall tonight at about 8:15 pm. Shoppers apparently rushed to the exits after they heard people say that there was a possible shooter in the mall, according to the O.C. Register.
A fistfight may have taken place near the movie theater at the mall, after which someone nearby yelled out that shots had been fired, causing “pandemonium,” according to KTLA. Continue reading
Another day, another drive-by shooting, as a man was injured in an attack the SAPD believes was gang-related, on Thursday night just after 10:15 p.m., according to the O.C. Register.
The drive-by shooting happened at the intersection of South Birch Street and West Chestnut Ave.
A male victim was shot once. He was walking in the area when he saw a vehicle that may have been gray in color. He heard the sound of gunshots and felt pain. Continue reading
A 52-year-old man was found today at 1:33 p.m., on the front porch of a home that isn’t his, with a gunshot wound to his upper torso, according to the O.C. Register.
The incident happened at the 5600 block of West Highland Street, in Santa Ana, near La Quinta High School and Thomas Paine Elementary School.
The victim was found by a man who was visiting the home in question. The victim was taken to Orange County Global Medical Center in Santa Ana, where he is in critical condition. Continue reading
