Advisory: SAPD Officers are currently looking for a Critical Missing Child
On 4-23-18 at approximately 8:26 pm SAPD police officers responded to 2701 W. 5th St. (Spurgeon Intermediate) regarding a critical missing child.
The missing child Luciano Josue, is described as an Male Hispanic, 12 years of age, 4’11, 80lbs black hair, wearing Black/gray hooded sweatshirt, Van black/white checkered shoes, and black basketball shorts. Continue reading→
Ulises Mendoza, a Santa Ana man who crashed while driving under the influence, leaving a passenger dead and three others seriously injured, was sentenced Friday to three years in prison, according to the O.C. Register.
Mendoza plead guilty to a felony vehicular manslaughter charge and a misdemeanor driving without a valid license, under a plea deal. Continue reading→
Never mind the problems at Spurgeon Intermediate. The situation at the SAUSD is much worse. An inside soruce tells me that there was a meeting this week for parents of elementary schoolchildren. The district wanted to inform the parents that they will be getting rid of Honors classes. Students will either have to be in AP classes or in standard classes that will throw everyone in one room, from those achieving at the elementary level to those who would normally be in Honors classes. And this is coming our way in middle school as well.
I have supported SAUSD Superintendent Thelma Melendez de Santa Ana, since she arrived here in Santa Ana, however she seems to be perfectly willing to turn low income kids into guinea pigs for every whim in education that suits her own political and/or egotistical purposes. Continue reading→
“Santa Ana Unified has beefed up staffing and hired private investigators to look into safety concerns at Spurgeon Intermediate, where teachers say teens and pre-teens are accosting adults, turning desks over and smoking marijuana in class. The problems have become so bad that 36 teachers and classified employees filed a “hostile work environment” complaint earlier this month,” according to the O.C. Register.
The worst part of this story is that the Santa Ana Unified School District (SAUSD) ignored this disaster. One of the teachers even said that the school police asked that the teachers stop calling them! Continue reading→

New two-story classroom building honors legacy of beloved teacher
SANTA ANA, CA – September 22, 2011 – Santa Ana Unified School District’s (SAUSD) Spurgeon Intermediate School will hold a ceremony to dedicate the school’s new classroom building in memory of retired teacher Rusell Ford on Friday, September 23 at 9:00 a.m. Ford was tragically slain last spring in a domestic dispute. SAUSD Shows Off New School Facilities Improvements
Facilities Team Recognized by Board of Education for Their Diligence and Efficiency in Completing Projects
SANTA ANA, CA — September 15, 2011 – Some 56,000 students in the Santa Ana Unified School District (SAUSD) returned to new or improved school campuses this new school year as a result of the summer work of SAUSD’s Facilities and Governmental Relations Department. The team ensured that new classroom buildings were completed, campuses were remodeled, blacktops were resurfaced, fencing installed, synthetic turf fields installed, and maintenance tasks checked off in time for students’ return from summer break. As a result, the department’s leaders and workers were recognized by the SAUSD Board of Education this week for improvements made Districtwide. Continue reading→

Spurgeon staff would like you to participate in our Career Day on May 28, 2010 from 8:00 am to 12 pm. It is of great importance that our students come in contact with you and your career. Your presence at Spurgeon will give our students a wealth of information for future opportunities.
Please plan for a 30-35 minute presentation, with a 5 minute period for student questions. You may bring artifacts, pamphlets or informational displays. You may include in your presentation, but are not limited to the following question: Who was an influential in your life? How did you decide on your respective career? What are the requirements for a post secondary education for your career? What skills are necessary for the career? What are your primary job responsibilities? How much do you make? What is a typical day for you? What is the best and the worst thing(s) about your career? In addition, what are the goals for continued growth?
