Committed to raising taxes – union hack Julio Perez, Assembly Speaker John Perez and labor boss Teferi Gebre
Moderation isn’t working anymore for Orange County’s labor leaders, according to the Voice of OC. When has this far-left bunch ever been moderate? It is true however that this year they have seemingly lost their minds – lining up behind union consultant Julio Perez for the 69th Assembly District, behind the crazed rantings of labor boss Teferi Gebre, who describes his political views, on Facebook, as “very liberal.” LOL! Gebre lives in Carlsbad – a city with an $85K median income. How 1% of him!
Backing Perez is such a bad idea that both Assemblyman Jose Solorio and State Senator Lou Correa, as well as DPOC Chairman Frank Barbaro, have had to remind local Democrats that the 69th is a moderate district. Of course when the Democrats hold their meetings at a union hall, you can’t expect much in the way of moderation. And so Perez is now bragging that he won a strong majority of support from Democratic Party Delegates during a Pre-Primary Endorsement Conference held this weekend. Of course he did! Santa Ana resident Francisco J. Barragan is finally getting the chance to avenge his pal Alfredo Amezcua’s brutal loss to Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido in 2010. Barragan announced yesterday at the Orange County Young Democrats meeting that he is “entering the 69th Assembly District race,” according to the Liberal OC blog.
“After seeing the other candidates I think I have something unique to offer,” Barragan told the Liberal OC. “I wanted to have all the pieces of my campaign in place before announcing, but this meeting pushed up my announcement.” Continue reading
Does Michele Martinez really need to worry about what out of town bloggers are saying?
A ruckus has broken out on two Orange County political blogs that are staffed by bloggers who do not live in Santa Ana. They are all upset because Santa Ana Councilwoman Michele Martinez isn’t answering their questions about her campaign for the 69th Assembly District, but really – why should she?
One of the blogs is run by a pair of bloggers who live in Irvine and Long Beach. The Irvine blogger was questioned earlier this year by the Santa Ana Police Department after they caught him sending creepy anonymous packages to a Santa Ana appointed official. He and the Long Beach blogger also stalked Irvine Councilman Steven Choi when he was running for the State Assembly – creeping up to and taking pictures through the windows of his house! Who is Julio Perez? He is the virtually unknown Democrat and labor consultant running to replace Jose Solorio in the 69th Assembly District.
His endorsers are a Who’s Who of failed Santa Ana mayoral candidate Al Amezcua’s backers and other lame Democrats. However Perez could affect this race by handing the primary election to Tom Daly, a truly terrible Democrat who is as bad as most Republicans when it comes to immigrants and the working poor. If Perez takes enough Latino votes from leading candidate Michele Martinez, who is a Santa Ana Council Member, the vote split could put Daly on top.

Santa Ana’s service workers are going all in with the unknown Julio Perez
The City of Santa Ana’s service employees aren’t happy with City Manager Paul Walters and our City Council – “”The day after council members approved the new agreement with service employees, union leaders announced their endorsement of Julio Perez, who is running against Martinez and Orange County Clerk-Recorder Tom Daly for the 69th Assembly District seat,” according to the Voice of OC.
Imagine that. These union workers have decided to stick it to the people of Santa Ana by endorsing a candidate from Anaheim, Perez, instead of Councilwoman Martinez, who grew up here, graduated from our schools, and still lives here. Amazing. Continue reading

While the Disney Company, through the SOAR PAC, has been propping up Tom Daly’s lame campaign for the 69th Assembly District, he is being outworked by his leading opponent – Santa Ana Councilwoman Michele Martinez. Just look at the endorsements she has racked up thus far:
My sources are telling me that a Political Action Committee run by an organization that calls itself SOAR (Support our Anaheim Resort) is the main driver behind Orange County Clerk-Recorder Tom Daly’s campaign for the 69th Assembly District.
Who is SOAR? According to their website:

There are three Democrats vying for the 69th Assembly District. Santa Ana Councilwoman Michele Martinez is leading the pack – and she has had her campaign website up for some time. Labor consultant Julio Perez has never run for anything before, but he has a website up too.
But what is up with Orange County Clerk-Recorder Tom Daly? He does NOT have a campaign website. Why is that? He has raised thousands of dollars, but can’t even put up a simple website? Could it be that he doesn’t want us to know more about him? Or maybe he would rather not admit what his agenda is?

Like boss like employee. This is a snap shot of the Clerk-Recorder Department’s crack purchasing agent XXXXXXXXXXX XXXX. There is a saying that a team is as strong as its weakest team member and this appears to be the truth in this case. What kind of a shop is Tom Daly running here? From the looks of things Tom Daly expects his campaign for the 69th Assembly District to be a breeze.
The problem with this photo is that it is a reflection of Tom Daly’s inability to make a sound decision. In 2009, the County’s Head Purchasing Agent Ron Vienna conducted an audit of the Clerk-Recorder Department’s purchasing practices. The audit, which you can read about here, exposed Tom Daly’s inability to follow county purchasing policy. On twelve separate incidents, it was found that Tom Daly skirted county policy and showed no regret or concern over it. His department concurred with all the findings and listed several remedial actions the department would take. Continue reading
“Matt Harper, former deputy chief of staff to Supervisor Janet Nguyen who quietly transferred to the Orange County trash agency last month while preparing a run for the Assembly, has been officially warned to avoid any political activities while working as public affairs manager at OC Waste & Recycling for the next year,” according to the Voice of OC.
This is based on an opinion written by Senior Deputy County Counsel Christopher J. Miller, which states that:
I received a tip this week that forces allied with Orange Clerk-Recorder Tom Daly are looking for pictures of one of his Democratic opponents for the 69th Assembly District, Julio Perez, a labor consultant.
What sort of pictures? They want pictures of Perez riding a car in the Santa Ana parade. Not just any car – it was a car that was entered in the parade by the Institute for Mexicans Living Abroad, of which Perez is an elected board member (OC Weekly). Continue reading
O.C. Clerk Recorder Tom Daly has been caught with his hands in the proverbial cookie jar. Daly sent an unsolicited e-mail to a lot of his Clerk-Recorder employees inviting them to his Oct. 19 fundraiser. Daly held a fundraiser even though he has yet to commit to running for the 69th Assembly District.
What is more telling is that the e-mail was sent on a weekday (Wednesday) at 9:07 am. First of all, why is he soliciting his employees? Secondly, what the hell is he doing campaigning during work hours? Continue reading
