Homicide Investigation Leads to Pursuit and Fiery Crash
TUSTIN, Calif. – (November 4, 2014) – On Monday, November 3, 2014 at approximately 7:00 p.m., Orange County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence in the 18400 block of Warren Avenue for a report of a shooting. Deputies arrived and discovered a female adult, suffering from a gunshot wound. The female victim was transported to a local hospital and later pronounced deceased. Homicide investigators responded and initiated an investigation of the incident.
During the preliminary stages of the homicide investigation, information was learned involving a white SUV vehicle that may have been related to the shooting. Information about the vehicle, license plate and connection to the homicide, was provided to neighboring law enforcement agencies. The Santa Ana Police Department located and attempted a traffic stop of the vehicle. The vehicle failed to yield and a pursuit ensued, terminating with a single vehicle collision with a wall on North Rio Vista Street at East Frontera Street in the city of Anaheim. The vehicle erupted into flames on impact with the wall, killing the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle. Continue reading
Donate Life California, which encourages people to register as organ donors, and the California Peace Officers’ Memorial Foundation will hold a special Donate Life Rose Dedication Ceremony on Tuesday, October 28 at 10 a.m. honoring fallen law enforcement officers and their families. A beautiful rose in honor of the officers will be included in the Dedication Garden on the Donate Life Float in the 2015 Rose Parade, held in Pasadena on New Year’s Day. The officers’ families are invited to personalize the tribute.
Tuesday’s ceremony will be held at the Orange County Sheriff’s Training Academy, located at 15991 Armstrong Avenue, in Tustin, from 10 to 11 am.

SANTA ANA – A man was sentenced Friday to seven years in state prison for conspiring with three other family members to commit over $16 million in real estate fraud by forging documents and purchasing homes using “straw buyers.” A straw buyer is a person who knowingly and willingly allows their credit to be used for the purchase of a property they never intend to control.
Dinesh Valjeebhai Shah, 65, pleaded guilty to the court Friday, Oct. 17, 2014, to five felony counts of conspiracy to commit a crime, 13 felony counts of forgery, four felony counts of identity theft, four felony counts of recording false and forged instrument, five felony counts of grand theft, and sentencing enhancement allegations for loss over $100,000, property damage over $1.3 million, and aggravated white collar crime over $500,000. Dinesh Shah is also sentenced to pay $12,800 in restitution. Dinesh Shah was also sentenced to two years in state prison after being found guilty by a jury on June 25, 2014, of one felony count of filing a false tax return and two felony counts of failure to file any return or supply any information with intent to evade any tax (Case #11ZF0120). IRVINE, CA (October 18, 2014): On October 17, Irvine Police Detectives arrested Sherwin Ngo (1-16-80) of Tustin for lewd acts on a child.
Ngo is believed to be responsible for luring or attempting to lure at least two under aged male victims by posting personal ads on Craig’s List. Ngo initially led those responding to the ad to believe he was a female offering sexual contact.
The first victim, a 15-year-old Irvine male, was identified after his mother found explicit emails on his tablet computer. A second victim, a 16-year-old male, from Mission Viejo has also been identified. Detectives believe there may be additional victims, based on a large number of emails discovered during the execution of a search warrant of Ngo’s email accounts. Detectives will be continuing the investigation in an attempt to identify and locate any additional victims. Continue reading

Orange County Sheriffs received a call regarding a suspicious subject who was located in the area of La Colina Dr. and Tustin Blvd. in the County area of Tustin.
Deputies contacted the individual who was incoherent and non-responsive. Sheriffs transported individual to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana where hospital staff identified the individual as Juan Luis Farias (62). Continue reading

Have you wondered how in the world Santa Ana Councilman David Benavides and his sidekick, Roman Reyna, who is an ill-advised Mayoral candidate this year, are funding their respective political campaigns? As we saw in 2012, the high density apartment developers are backing these guys – often in the form of secretive Independent Expenditures – and this time they have a distinct objective in mind. Put simply, the developers are trying to buy their votes.
At stake is the property at 2001 East Dyer Road, which is on Santa Ana’s East side, on the border of Tustin. This land is currently zoned for industrial use but the developers who recently bought this land are requesting that the City of Santa Ana re-zone their (approximately) 18 acre property from industrial to residential development (high density apartments). SANTA ANA – A man was sentenced today to 15 years to life in state prison and mandatory lifetime sex offender registration for sexually assaulting a 13-year-old boy after he lured him inside a library bathroom. Robert Howard Claudio, 25, Anaheim Hills, was found guilty by a jury Sept. 5, 2013, of one felony count of kidnapping for child molesting, four felony counts of lewd acts with a minor under 14, and sentencing enhancement allegations for substantial sexual conduct with a child and increasing the risk of harm by kidnapping.
On the afternoon of March 9, 2012, Claudio approached 13-year-old John Doe in the Teen Room of the public library in Tustin while the victim was waiting for his mother to pick him up. Claudio convinced the victim that he was studying to be a social worker and was used to talking to younger boys. Claudio lured John Doe into a library bathroom and molested the victim by engaging in substantial sexual conduct. Continue reading
SANTA ANA: Join the Mayor & City Council for family style fun and a spectacular fireworks show at the City of Santa Ana’s 2014 Independence Day Celebration at Centennial Park from 4-9:30pm. The Independence Day celebration will feature live performances by the Rockabillys, Mango Band and Santa Ana High School. The celebration will feature a History Walk with costumed characters from our nation’s history educating children, a kid’s zone play area with three bounce houses and games, civil war cannons and recognition of our Armed Forces. The fireworks show will begin at 9pm. Bring a picnic basket or enjoy the various food vendors throughout the park. Admission is free and guests are encouraged to arrive early to find a spot in the park.
CITY OF ORANGE: Fred Kelly Stadium at El Modena High School, 3920 Spring Street, will be the site of the 19th Annual 3rd of July celebration which will be held on Thursday, July 3, at 4:00 p.m. The celebration includes live music, interactive games, entertainment, delicious food from local non-profit groups, a patriotic musical performance by the Orange County Master Chorale that leads up to a spectacular fireworks show. Tickets are $7.00 per person, children ages two and under are free. For information call (714) 744-7278.
ANAHEIM: Canyon High School, 220 S. Imperial Hwy. “An American Celebration” will be held on Friday, July 4, in Anaheim Hills. DISBARRED ATTORNEY/FORMER NYPD OFFICER CONVICTED OF EMBEZZLING OVER $469,000 FOR GAMBLING
SANTA ANA – A former vice president of a title insurance company pleaded guilty today to stealing over $469,000 from his company to spend on gambling. Wayne Martin Fong, 51, Tustin, pleaded guilty to a court offer, over the objection by the People who requested a state prison sentence, of seven felony counts of grand theft, five felony counts of money laundering, sentencing enhancements and allegations for causing over $100,000 in loss, aggravated white collar crime over $100,000, property loss over $200,000, and transactions exceeding $50,000. Fong was sentenced by the Honorable Robert R. Fitzgerald to six months in jail, five years formal probation, and must pay $309,000 in restitution.
Fong was hired in 1999 by Fidelity National Title Group (Fidelity) as the Associate Counsel and Vice President. He was responsible for working with and overseeing contracts with vendors who searched for and obtained missing assets for the company. Continue reading
