Community: Santa Ana City Council Takes Stand to Support Worker Cooperatives
Santa Ana, CA – At last night’s Council meeting, the Santa Ana City Council passed a resolution of support for the development and growth of local worker cooperatives, becoming the first city in Orange County to formally support worker cooperatives. Worker cooperatives are businesses owned and operated by their workers.
These businesses provide local goods and services, stable jobs for residents, and offer new economic opportunities for lower income workers in the City. In addition, worker cooperatives enable workers in the community to gain important business and leadership skills, as well as assists individuals with significant barriers to employment.
